My neighbor brought over 5 staves of Osage Orange. He uses them to make bows, but these were crazy knotted and warped, so he was going to throw them away. Instead he brought them to me since I'm always in the yard fiddling with something and he thought I could use them.

Other than using them for firewood for my fire pit, what could I do with them? The staves are 1 in x 2 in x 5 ft for the most part and extremely dry. I'd prefer it to be some bushcraft-y thing. Any ideas?

A good strong walking stick, I wish the stuff grew here. Knife handles, handles for a ferro rod, Tomahawk handle. I sure wouldn't burn it. Down here in southern Florida, especially after Hurricane Andrew we are short of good wood.

A bow for a fire drill, a drop spindle for spinning yarns. knitting needles, chopsticks. My imagination is running wild :).

Great knife handles. I tried one as an axe handle, but it didn't work so well. I'd say you could sell some of them to the W&SS members here.

Whatever you use them for, save the shavings! I got some osage shavings from NeverTooSharp, and they really catch a spark. Excellent for fire starting.

You could cut me a piece ;)

They make great knife handles and are a great wood to work with. Id say you scored.
