What to do with sloppy kershaw chive?

I have a kershaw chive that I have had awhile but havent used all that much. It normally just stays in the pocket and gets used for simple tasks such as cutting string, packing tape, etc.

It has developed some play in the blade. Its like the frame lock has worn down so that it doesnt contact the tang of the blade good. In fact with the blade open the frame lock can be pushed in and go all the way to the other side of the frame without contacting the blade. Also, the plastic 'safety' broke so it can open in my pocket.

Should I send it in for warranty? I dont really trust the lock the way it currently is but I hate sending something off and not having it. I also hate for it to just be trashed even though it would be nice to get a new one.

What would you do? Keep it and just be careful or send it in for warranty?

Thanks!

Ryan

Toss it, buy another. It's like a $25 knife right? How much is a hour of your time worth sending it in and then the inconvience of not having it?

send it in and they will take care of you. i work cheap so i would come out ahead. or better yet send it to me as i operate an orphanage for wayward kershaws, and pretty much any wayward knives. cheap knife but a pretty good knife. later, ahgar

Why in the world would you throw away a knife that you know Kershaw will make good? Stop by the UPS Store, have 'em box it up and ship it back for a couple bucks and then go shopping for a new knife. Whether you ship it to Kershaw for repair or dump it in the trash, you're still going to need a new knife...

I wish I was rich enough to be able to think nothing of throwing $25 away...

I'd send it in. The good folks at Kershaw will fix it right up. I sent a Leek in and they had it back to me inside of one and a half weeks. They have the best warranty and repair that I've ever dealt with.

Wow a week and a half.

Guess I will send it in. I sent a knife back to benchmade because the blade was chipping in one place and rolling in another and it took almost 6 weeks. And all they did was sharpen the blade (and they might have replaced the washers, hard to tell).

I agree its not the best knife in the world but I use it as a money clip so that I will have a small spare knife in the pocket that is serving another purpose as well.

Thanks for the replies!

Ryan
