What to do with the blade of a borken folder?

I have an old Benchmade Red Class folder that had an "Assisted Rolling AXIS Lock" that busted. Has not detent to keep it closed any more, plus I tired to open it up myself and broke it more by losing the lock-stud... Yeah I'm dumb.

So it's a pretty nice chunk of AUS-8, 4 inches or so (didn't have a ruler, that graduation scale on the Izula gear card is an inch so you can tell scale)

What would you guys do with this? To me I'm basically trying to think about somehow making a folder out of it ( with it only being kept close by friction ) or somehow make it a hidden-tang fixed blade.

One thing about all of that is I don't really have a work shop any more, living in an apartment, so I'm not sure where I would be able to do the work.

I have the same knife (Ambush). Currently has the same problem after years of regular use. It's waiting on me to send it in to BM. Any reason you haven't gone that route?

If they have a new blade in stock, they will likely replace it for $25. I've had that done at least once with a BM690.

Actually I did send it to Benchmade when it first happened. Since it's a discontinued model they couldn't repair it, and sent it back to me and gave me a $100 credit toward any product on their website. Used it toward a 930 Kulgera.

So it's pretty much destined for some kind of DIY project just to spare it from being wasted.

Good to know ;)

Oooh take an Opinel, modify the handle, and put that blade in it. Talk about a unique knife then.

I'd look at making it into something like an opinel. Or maybe a friction folder.

I think an Opinel type knife with a locking collar might be best. The lack of an extended tang may make it difficult to turn into a friction folder.

Get some wood, a whittling knife, and some sandpaper, I guess, unless you want to make brand new G10 scales or something.
