From SRT's website:
"Probably the most impressive suppressed firearm available, the BISON 77/44 has found favor among U.S. Government Special Operations teams. The Bison is quieter than a pellet rifle when shooting subsonic .44 special ammo, and is still capable of sending 240 grains of lead downrange at around 1650 fps when shooting full magnum loads.
. . . .
This is the quietest 77/44 currently available that we know of, and has higher bullet velocties, and thus better terminal ballistics than any of our competition. The tensioned barrel design, as is used in all of our integral guns, offers superior accuracy when used with Engel Ballstic Research .44 magnum 270 grain Subsonic ammo. Typical bullet velocity is 90%+ of a similar round fired from an unsupressed Ruger 77/44, and is higher than competitors models.
The suppressor tube is 1.5 OD by about 17 long. The suppressed gun is only about 1" longer than a factory gun. A 4X Simmons .22MAG scope using extra tall Ruger scope rings is a nice scope choice, and is optional. This suppressed 77/44 has similar weight and handling characteristcs to an unmodified rifle.
We recommend an optional Douglas Match barrel in a special twist rate for improved accuracy over the factory Ruger barrel when using subsonic loads. Engel Ballistic Research has developed a special subsonic 270 grain round for this rifle/barrel combination that typically delivers sub MOA accuracy at 100 yards. The Douglas barrel can be chambered in either .44 Magnum or .44 Special, depending on your requirements.
A typical group size with the EBR subsonic with the factory Ruger barrel is 1.5" at 50 yards. Upgrading to the Douglas barrel reduces the groups size by 1/2 to 2/3, as group sizes of 1" or less have been recorded at 100 yards.
We also offer inexpensive options of a hard-mounted-to-the-barrel bipod lug, and iron sights for those that do not wish to use a scope.
Available in a stainless steel gun with synthetic stock. All suppressor tubes are finished with Mil-Spec flat black baked phenolic resin.
Please note: Ruger has recently stopped production of the 77/44. We were able to obtain a very small quantity the last stainless 77/44 rilfes from Ruger directly. THERE WILL BE NO MORE. Once these are gone, we can still suppress any 77/44 you may find in a gun store, or on any of the gunbroker or auction arms type websites. We are pursueing some leads on blued guns, and if we can get them, we will, though the prices are subject to change without notice!"
Once you shoot suppressed, you never go back. I speak from experience.
