What to get to replace a Manix C95?

With the word out that the Spyderco Manix is discontinued, what do you think is the closest to it in size, strength, and quality?
Particularly interested in strength and durability.

(Not necessarily a Spyderco, or I'd have posted this in the Spyderco forum.)

Would love some suggestions.

Thanks.

If you really like that knife, why not get another one while they are still available? It never hurts to have a backup of your favorite.

Yes, sorry, I should have mentioned I'm doing that!

But it's sort of what got me started with this thread...is there anything really comparable?

I definitely more of a Spyderco fan, but I have to admit as I've said before. If the Manix/Mini is a tank, then the BM Rukus/Mini is a fortress.

What about the Benchmade 630? Isn't it's blade thicker as well as longer than the large Manix?
Maybe it's too large?

I don't think I can think of anything that matches the Manix in price, cutting ability and heft. Just pick up a few more Manixes. That's what I did...

Are you ready......................How 'bout the Benchmade 610 RUKUS! It has strength, durability, and good looks to boot! The Rukus is good, I like the Rukus.:thumbup::D

Gotta agree with you, carrot and logican. Getting another is the thing to do.
The Manix is simply one of a kind.

And thanks to everyone for the replies.

maybe a C101? :) oh wait this is discontinued too... :(

BM 610 or 710, Spyderco Military in CPM D-2. All a little different, but all will do the same job as the Manix.

I never though that I'd like any other knife when I got my BM 710 D-2. But I've acquired a Spyderco Military in CPM D2 and a Kershaw Blur in S30V, and guess what? I like them just about as well as the 710 D-2!:)

Now if only we could get Sal to license the axis lock, or collaborate, with BM and make a Military, axis lock in CPM M-4 or S90V! :):) Oh,well, I guess thats too much to ask for, even from Sal. :p

But hey! I can dream, can't I? :D:D

They're pretty much the same thickness. The Skirmish *may* loose some points due to not being a full flat grind.

The one strong potential negative there is that in heavy working conditions a backlock may fair better than a frame lock.

Ben, there will be a millie ( no axis lock though) coming out in S90V sometime in the future. It's one I'm really looking foreward to.

BTW, the SOG Tomcat 3 isn't exactly a manix but it is a tank of a knife with the arc lock and almost as good VG10. I want to get an extra manix when I can also. Joe

The ergos on the Manix are without peer...... to hear that it is discontinued is very saddening. The ZT200 is a good alternative but it is no Manix.

The mini-rukus is the closest thing I can think of. I am wondering about this situation myself I just hope a manix 2 comes out soon. When the 2 comes out I have learned my lesson I will buy several. Maybe a ritter grip.

I agree. I've got a bunch of customs, and all the productions listed as a replacement, to pull from but I carry a Manix. Nicest thing since sliced bread. Looks like I'll be buying another one too.:( And none of the listed knives can come close to the cutting performance of that sweet full flat grind. None.

As far as what could replace it the mini Ruckus is nice but the handle is a little on the thick side, I would probably go with the ZT 301 or a production flat ground SMF or recurve SMF. For quite a bit more money.:( At least with the Striders though you should only have to buy one as if you break it they will fix it with minimal bs.
