The shield fell out. Luckily, in my hand. Thinking about sanding the backside a bit. Then JB weld or Gorilla Glue.

Thoughts?

Gorilla glue should do it...I've used contact cement (Weldwood) with good results.

A dab of the gel type crazy glue or 5 minute epoxy should hold it. I have never used Gorilla glue but I here it's a strong bond.

+1 for the 'gel' superglue. About 2 drops in the milled recess in the bone should do it. Quick & easy, and should hold essentially forever. Would be a good idea to make sure the surfaces are clean & dry. I think a wipedown with some isopropyl alcohol should do it.

(This is how I fixed mine, which happened almost exactly as yours. Shield dropped into my lap, from the brand new knife, as I was inspecting it.)

gorilla glue expands a bit, at least the stuff ive used... my dad sent his yeller peanut through a full laundry cycle lost the shield, i superglued a replacement in and its held for a couple years now

Well, look at what I found! Gorilla Super Glue! Makes everyone happy right? I forgot I had this stuff.

Anyway, took a pick to the hole to get dried glue out and to rough up the surface. Sanded the back of the shield to rough it up. Used gun scrubber (similar to brake cleaner) to clean post work. This stuff is fast drying and gets the oil off. Then a good dab of Gorilla Super Glue..... its the gel consistency.

Should work. Back in my pocket it goes.

Works good on closing cuts too.....don't ask. :o

On the cuts, yeah a lot of paramedics and military types have super glue in the first aid kit. Our cats had some work done that required sutures and CA glue was used. Its quite legit for that purpose.
