So, what should one look out for when buying an authentic Hawaiin shirt?

Materials?,
Stitch patterns?,
Buttons?,
Flaring Collars?,
Off limit colours?,
Breast pocket(s)?,

Silk or Linen.
Cocconut buttons.
Normal collars.
Personally I dislike graphics of manmade objects (airplanes, cars, etc), although I have one with fishing lures that's ok.
Colors and pockets are a personal choice.

I have found that the only ones I'll buy anymore are those from the higher end (old time) makers. I really like Kahala and Tori Richards.

Hawaiian Shirt Basics:
1. made only of either cotton or rayon: not silk, not a blend, not polyester,
2. coconut shell or wooden buttons,
3. no collar button,
4. made in Hawaii!

And make sure the pattern matches where pocket is sewn to shirt.

Beyond that, buy whatever you like!!!

What would one expect to pay for a decent Hawaiian shirt?
My in-laws are planning a trip to Hawai this summer and I want to send some $$$ with them to get me a good shirt.

TIA

Is there a reason why you don't buy on-line if you want an authentic shirt and aren't going to Hawaii?
