What to purchase? Busse Bushwacker Battle Mistress or new Power Eagle 12

welcome to the forums.

thin or not, that busse will not let you down. its hard to go wrong with a busse.

i havent read too much on the TOPS, but it looks to be a rather nice design. likely will be better at chopping then brush clearing.

me, id go with a rather long and thin machete, as well as a good stout 6in fixed blade.

I have many Busse knives but I too have been looking at the Power Eagle 12. Please do a review with pics if you get it! I ask in another thread about the Power Eagle 12 but no one has one that I know of.

I am always skeptical when a knife ad, like the verbiage used on the Tops site to describe the Power Eagle 12, tries too hard to hit all our testosterone touch points.

The knife has not been released yet. I'd wait to read some objective user reviews before plunking down $200.

Yes, Busse is more expensive but it is a proven design.

If I was considering budget, I'd go for ESEE Junglas, but I just pulled a trigger on the B11 not so long ago, so I'm not going to get me the BWM.

I'm biased for Busse side. So my choice would be BWM. Its also nice to know that you can sell it for what you bought it, after you used it.

The Busse Basic 11 would the one to really get if you can find one over the BWM and the Junglas.

It will out do both of them easy and is lighter than either.

I really like the design of the Power Eagle, TOPS stuff is over the top in its print ads but much like alot of Cold Steel stuff it turns out to be very good in hand. I have a Hoods Woods TOPS Anaconda Tanto that has served me extremely well for more than ten years now.

Other considerations could be something from Himalayan Imports, Yangdu has had some Seaxs and very nice Bonecutters in the Deal of the Day section.

Here is my video comparing the Basic 11 with the NMFBM and BWM.
