I just bought a pair of merrell wilderness with nubuck leather. What would be good to put on them to protect and waterproof them? I like Obenauf's for smooth leather, but really do not know what to out on nubuck.
Merell does a spray for suede and nubuck which is organic and I find it does a good job. The only other thing I would use is the suede and nubuck spray from Wolly.
NikWax is good, and I used it when I got my Lowa Banff model boots a few years back. However, after I ran out I of NikWax, I went back to good old SnowSeal. The nubby texture on my boots disappeared, but they remain waterproof.
I've been using Obenauf's on a pair of nubuck Meindel Perfekt Hikers for a few years, and it's been great. They definitely came out a couple of shades darker after the first application.
