Hey, everyone I recently came across 20 bucks to spend on something knife related.
I was thinking about getting a good piece of honing leather and using it as a strop since my current one is horrible.
But I wanted to here what you guys think I should get.
I currently own
A Buck Vantage Pro (has some play :O)
A couple of SAK's and Vic Champ
A Persian knife (cut my self with it yesterday officialy mine).
Now It's in my paypal so online only and remember shipping.

id go for a sharpening system or a buck redpoint from kmart i found one for 18 bucks! or a spyderco bug they are cute little bugs

Leatherman Micra. Comes in a variety of colors and are extremely useful to have around.

For 20 bucks I recommend the Kershaw Ener-G, Eknifeworks has em for 20 bucks right now. Amazing little flipper knife.

I will second the micra. They come in pretty handy.

Or I think I would get some diamond spray for stropping as you should be able to get a scrap of leather for just about nothing if you look around.

For 20 bucks you should be able to get an already built strop with some nice wood and a good piece of leather already mounted.

I think I would feel a little disappointed if all I got was a piece of leather in the mail.

Hand American leather for a strop, good choice. Find some scrap wood to glue it to. I have some old bench wood oak that I make them out of.

By something used from the exchange here. I've gotten the following for $20 or so:

  • Boker Trance
  • Boker Wharcom
  • CRKT M21
  • Kershaw Needs Work
  • Spyderco Tenacious
  • Wenger Century
  • Victorninox SwissChamp

You can sometimes find a new Buck 110 for $20 at Walmart, Bass Pro, or Gander. You can also get a new Frosts Mora for less than that.

You have a strop. What other sharpening equipment do you own?
A Norton India Combo Bench Stone 6" Fine/Coarse can be had for $20 including shipping. Highly recommended.

If you want a knife, some of the Byrds can be had for ~$20 including shipping. So can some of the Chinese made Buck knives. Both are well made.

Picked this up new for $20 a few weeks ago. The blade is over 12", and over 1/4" thick with a full flat grind. I gave it a pollished convexed edge by hand.

It's a cheap China knife, but it feels solid and pretty bad a$$ for the money, at least untill the blade falls out of the handle or something!

Condor Rodan, Kabar Warthog Folder, a Mora, a Lansky superfine sharpener, some tuffcloths...

Or, get a Case Sodbuster Jr. in CV, no knife nut should be without one.
