I've been carrying a PM2 for about 2 years now and there's not a single thing I can think of that I don't like about it.

The problem is, it is my first and only EDC so I don't really have anything to compare it to.

I'm very pleased with how quickly I found a knife I absolutely love but at the same time I'm disappointed I have no reason to try anything else.

Am I lucky or have I put an early end to my quest for EDC perfection?

if you like your PM2 and thats all you need then great. but if you want another great EDC blade try ZT knives(when i EDC a folder i EDC a ZT 560) or jump into the fixed blade category- rodent 3, izula, izula 2, and many others
hope this helps

If you want to stick with spyderco id suggest the manix 2 and manix 2xl, military, native, sage, endura and delica. Hell I throw a Gayle Bradley in there too. I have been extremely pleased with spyderco and their products. Honestly each one of these rank just as high as a pm2 on my scale. I own all that I suggested besides the native. Very pleased with all of them.

I think I will pick up a mini griptillian. What's the difference between the regular version and the Ritter?

the handle is the same but the ritter has a different blade shape and a better steel
154cm vs the ritter grips S30V

Worth the extra cost? I'm very used to the s30v in my pm2 but am not sure if 154cm is bad?

154cm is not a bad steel by any stretch but i like S30V better for some reason idk its just personal preference
i would say it is worth it

Its important to know that benchmade has nailed their heat treat on 154cm. I love 154cm, but not as much as other benchmade steels.

Maybe try another brand or handle material. I started with a pm2 and added a sebenza and hinderer xm24. Love em all

Would the griptillian be the most iconic benchmade? I'm thinking buying something representative of each brand would be a good start.

I'm EDC'ing a Dragonfly 2 at work and a Benchmade 710 M390 at home. Both fantastic knives, but quite different. Personally I like the 710 more, the m390 steel is just so incredible good, so if you can find one of those you should get it! Don't know how the other benchmade blade steels perform on this knife, but I find the blade design quite usefull and good for pretty much every task.
The Dragonfly 2 is decent too, but would probably be a downgrade from PM 2...

I'd say try an FRN spyderco. Maybe one with full serrations. Probably Delica as it's a bigger difference in size compared to your PM2. I think that would be an enlightening experience.

Or get a traditional knife, I always find these to be a nice change and much more fun to fondle than a high end "modern" folder. A nice GEC jack knife of some sort with wood or bone handles. Case Swayback Jack. Opinel.

Or something with an axis lock like the venerable BM 710. Or a Kershaw flipper.

key point to my post is get something a bit different than you have, since it seems so perfect to you. No need to get another g10 mid-large sized spyderco.

I think i'm going to try to find somewhere in the area where I can get my hands on a mini grip but i'm thinking that's probably going to be the next step. Thanks for all the input!
