glasses screwdriver?

this is the case:
the only thing i like corkscrew in SAKs is just for putting the small glasses screwdriver... thats why i EDC 84mm sportsman for so long...

lately i really like the supertinker... i prefer it than the climber since its holds more comfortable and the philips is handy for my airguns...

so, is there anyway i could add, mods or do anything so the supertinker could have a feature to tighten glasses screwdriver... i've tried the tweezers, but not succed...

i know the anwer is explorer... but i prefer to keep it 3 lines, so its comfortable to hold and pocket....

sorry if my post is silly... any inputs is welcomed...

sincerely

My wife is an optician and always has this on her key chain.

You can get them about anywhere. Just buy one and attach it to your knifes key ring.

I used to carry a super tinker also, was my favorite knife for a long while. But if you can get a knife with the phillips screwdriver comingout horizontal and not vertical i bet you'll love it more, and you'll be able to carry that mini driver in the corkscrew again. I too shoot airguns, but i've also found it handy for fishing, archery and such because it fits in easier and uses more like a normal screw driver. It also locks into place somewhat with a strong backspring.

Take a file or dremel and shape the tweezers to more of a point. They will then work on glasses screws. No, it's not perfect but you can get by like that.

it seems the tweezers steel is to soft and bent easily... wont be good as a screwdriver..

yup, i got the explorer and the screwdriver is really nicely usefull... but i'm not comfortable using 4 layer saks...

maybe i just got to get myself a compact =)

suzukiGS750ez, do you hangout in yellowforum or any airgun forum?

I used to belong to an airgun forum back in the day. I started shooting with a Crosman Quest 1000, then added the scope after i got the hold and sites down which turned it into the 1000X. Then when my grandfather saw how good i shot, he gave me an RWS model 48 made June of 1990. Great gun. They aren't as good now a days, i like the older one i have. Along with it i have a japanese made 2-7x32 AG tasco scope. It likes RWS superdomes but i can get decent groupings with crosman hollow points. I can shoot asprin with it, that's how accurate of a springer it is. I also competitively shoot archer.

good to hear that suzuki.... i mainly collect and use SHARP Airguns... the SHARP ACEs and INNOVA II.... they're pumpers but very2 accurate... i have older springers form my father, its an old Diana mod50b from 1960's, but i sucks with springers... and yes, RWS superdome and SuperMAG are my main ammo.

the phillips on SAKs fits the screw on my airgun pretty well, thats why i like it... the can opener could be used but with the risk of bending if i over tightening...

gotta find other options for the glasses screwdriver... maybe i just have to give up and buy a climber....

Eyeglass screws require very little torque to tighten... I'm telling you, the tweezers will do it. Now, if I had to tighten those little screws a ton b/c of my job or whatever, I'd get a dedicated tool. But for once in a while, the tweezers work.

Iyonk, actually I always reprofile the tweezers a little. I find that the ends never exactly meet. So I take a little of the sides (taper them) and flatten the tip so that the ends meet. I have used a sharpening stone for this and a dremel. The narrower end then fits the eyeglasses screw. Not perfect for tightening a lot... but in an emergency it works fine.

That's been my experiance. I just use the tweezers, and torgue the screws just untill I feel the tweezer flexing a little bit. You don't have to go honking down on them with glasses or sunglasses screws. That usually works fine.

ok guys... maybe i just need a better technic with the tweezers... hope i could get it and the supertinker would be great carry and seeing more pocket time hehe...

thanks alot for all your valuable info guys...

Have you thought about something from Wenger? The nail file tip would be pretty simple to mod into a small screwdriver end I'd think. So something like an Evo 11 would give you the back mounted Phillips, nail file to mod and the other basics, an Evo 16 would add some scissors as well.

in my country, wenger is twice as expensive as the similar victorinox... thats why its a no brainer for me to stay with Vics... just own a couple of wenger though...
