What tools do you bring on a picnic?

Hi all,

After learning much about knifes, seems like any knife would really do the trick.

I’m considering to bring a date out on a picnic, what are the tools to bring on the trip? Obviously I’m thinking to make something with avocado, and with various fruits.

I wish everyone a happy holidays and happy new year!

For a date I would suggest using a small paring knife. Have it carefully wrapped (ideally in a sheath/tupperware etc.as well) inside the basket.

Leave your pocket knife in your pocket - she might think it’s unsanitary/weird to cut up food with a pocket knife.

Unless of course you happen to be dating a genuine knife enthusiast. In that case your fanciest pocket knife and a couple bottles of the most expensive champagne you can afford are in order. ;)

I like a Laguiole style knife with a corkscrew for picnics.
Barebones sells a sort of modern interpretation that has a locking blade (bottom pic). Their folding steak knives are nice and inexpensive, essentially the same thing without the bottle openers and blade serrations.
For avocados, I'd bring a spoon, too.

Swiss army picknicker. And a titanium spork.

I find that the Swiss army knives seem to clean up better than a lot of pocket knives. And they tend not to rust. So I can eat. Rinse them off and shove them back in the pocket.
