I bought an American lawman and when i sharpened it i notice the bevel seems uneven. it looks like some kind of chisel grind. i checked my recon1 older version which i seldom use and never been sharpened the bevel seems uneven too. did i just got an uneven bevel or they are built that way like chisel grind?

They are definitely not supposed to be like that. But, an uneven bevel isn't a huge problem; just sharpen more on the side with the narrower bevel, and eventually it'll even out. Or, just grind both sides even in one sharpening session if it really bugs you, but that'll remove a lot of metal and shorten the life of the knife. (All credit given to jdavis882/CrimsonTideShooter for those bits of knowledge.)

That is just a side effect of an inexpensive production knife. Don't get me wrong, I love my Lawman, but the bevels are uneven on mine as well...

Mine has uneven bevels as well. But that is on the secondary bevel. The primary bevel on the American Lawman is hollow ground.

thanks for the reply guys. at least now i know its not just mine. i'll just keep using it and sharpening it, eventually it will even out :D

My Recon 1 Tanto is the same way... It has the half serrated blade..... I thought at first this was a just bi-product of the blade being haft serrated. Guess not, but it does sharpen up verry nice....

Actually many companies that I get knives from have uneven bevels. It's unfortunate and probably just a side-effect of mass production

The actual grind is hollow
