Just curious, for example, does anyone know what type of bone the "blood red jigged bone" is? Also on a side note, does anyone know who manufactures northwoods? I know they were bought by KSS. Thanks, just starting to get interested in traditionals, and I've seen some really nice looking northwoods on the "edc" thread.

KSF owns the Northwoods name and commisions the knives which are made by GEC. I believe they use two types of bone: bovine and camel, the former being the Blood Red.

Derrick will sometimes use Queen for some of the Northwoods. For example my Indian river jack was made by Queen offering CPM154 steel as opposed to GECs 1095 carbon steel. Either way you can't go wrong

Derrick has also ordered some more exotics eg: Stag, inner and outer mammoth, pre ban Ivory, giraffe etc...

Stag, Mammoth, and Pre-Ban Ivory are not bone, per the OP's question. Just sayin...

Well, I’ve had it! Blade Forums has gotten just over the top, and I will no longer participate. I’m all for a Knife Collector’s Forum to trade information and talk about knives, but Blade Forums seems to longer serve that purpose. They have been hijacked by a clique of knife flippers, scalpers, self appointed knife experts and newbie wannabe’s. Every comment seems to turn into a three page argument about what the meaning of the word “is” is! I, personally, have had enough! So I might read a few posts from people I know to be square upstanding people, I will not be spending any time there and definitely will not be posting! Good Riddance!

Gee Bob, does this post mean you like us again.

Thanks for your expert input.
