What type of cord fits the CRK lanyard bar?

I hope this post will be tolerated in the CRK forum, despite the fact that my question is a bit universal. ;)

Anyway - I`ve ordered some paracord to replace my worn CRK lanyard. Needless to say it won`t fit the lanyard bar-which I didn`t realize until now.

So here is a question for all of you guys that use the lanyard bar as well as some "aftermarket" cord - what type of cord are you using?

I`d love to use some colored cord and also keep on using the lanyard bar......... .

Thanks,
Nick

Good point. I actually did that, but CRK`s hangmans knot didn`t turn out well, and I am not good enough to do other styles. :p ;)

So I guess the secret is to work on my skills and use gutted paracord? Or is the stuff that CRK uses available in other colors as well?

I recently received my plaza cutlery Dog Paw Lanyard and from the looks of it they use paracord. (The ends of the lanyard show melted "white" blob which I assume is the white 7 strand inner core) When I called and ordered the bead, I asked how they got around fitting paracord into the small lanyard pin. They mentioned that the cord was tied at CRK factory. The only thing I noticed is they cut the cord at a 45 degree angle.

You can order the lanyard pin with the lanyard already attached from CRK for 7.50. I did for all my pre-lanyard pin Sebenzas. They are easy to install.

You can do this yourself, I did it for my Umnum. I tried it with gutted cord but agree that it doesn't really look all that good.

Try this, only take a few of the internal strands out. I had 7 strand paracord and I think I took out 3 strands. Then cut the tip at a 45 degree angel. I melted it a bit to and rolled it into a sharp point. I had to use some tweezers and needle nose pliers but I got it in there after a few minutes.

Here's mine with partially gutted paracord:

Cool, pics when you are done!

BTW, where in Germany are you from? I work for SAP in U.S. and go over to Walldorf several times a year.

Partially gutted Paracord? Did you just remove a few inner strands? The reason I ask is I just purchased some of the ti beads from Para-Cord and I think they would look better on some colored cord rather than the black that comes standard. I tried to get some paracord thru the hole but it was a no go unless I completely gutted it, and then it made my knots too small to be an effective lanyard. Please explain if you would.:)

Yes, I removed about three stands, see my post above

Ok, I`ve tried it out, and I actually even managed to get it done with only two strands removed. ;) Now I only need to work on my skills to get a proper hangmans knot. ;)

As for my location-I live near a city called Magdeburg, which is located in north eastern Germany (between Hanover and Berlin). I hadn`t actually heard of Walldorf before you mentioned it. ;) I have been to Pittsburgh and the Morgantown/WV area several times though. ;)

Glad you got it worked out, now go and practice that knot :)

My family is from Pittsburgh originally. I've never been to North East Germany, mainly the middle and down south to Lake Constance.

I got full paracord to fit by pulling all the inner strands back 3/4 inch and then put a flame over the end with no inner strands till it shrunk. Then slipped it in and pulled it through. cut the 3/4 part off and walla.

You need Paracord 450. Same sheath as 550, but only 4 inner strands rather than 7. Comes in a lot more colors too.
