What type of knife do you have the most of?Mine are mostly one handed openers.About 90% Ti framelocks.
In other words "tactical folders".I'm not really crazy about that term, but it sums it up pretty well.Any one handed operating folder, regardless of the locking system will be categorized "tactical folder" for this poll.

Traditional knives will be two handed openers.Either slipjoints or backlocks.

I gave Bowies their own category, because I know there's quite a few custom Bowie collectors here.

Kukri, khukri or khukuri's,Machetes,Goloks & Parangs will be part of the "Big fixed blade" category.

SAK's will fall under production Traditional knives(in hindsight,I probably should have given them their own category).

I tried to be as thorough as I could with 20 choices, but I'm betting I forgot a few,so I'll add an "other" option.

[edited to add] By "collection" I mean ALL your knives, whether they are users, safe queens, beaters, etc.
In other words, don't get hung up on the word "collection".It doesn't necessarily mean "collector".

Thanks for participating:thumbup:

Folding one-hand openers with plain, 3.5"ish blades and 5"ish handles. It's a pretty boring collection - they're almost all like that, and they almost all have plain black handles.

I specifically Collect original Schrade Old Timer knives, so have more of those than anything else.

I also tend to Accumulate traditional hunters, pocketknives, Scandinavian knives, Swiss Army Knives, bayonets, knives with interesting locks and actions, and heavy duty survival knives.

So a bit of everything. :)

I'm partial to 5" fixed blades with clip point or drop point style blades in a decent stainless steel.

Poll open now guys, sorry it took so long.Trying to be thorough.:o

I prefer one handed openers in the 3-4" range.. All plain edge with only one fully serrated (Spyderco Stretch... LOVE!) and have a combo edge on the way (BM 14205). Never been a big combo edge fan.. so we'll see if this one changes my mind. Second to my one handed folders would be fixed blades in the 3-5" range for camping/packing. I'm adding a few SAKs this week and am going to grab a few small/neck knife fixed blades in the future.

Yes I too have more 'tactical folders' than anything else. I live and work in the city so I can always carry a spydie or bm with me and I love switching them up. I have about 16 high end (what i consider high end: 100-200$ range) folders.

They have been called my 'man jewellery' by those who know me well

Definately production traditionals for me. They make up about 85% of my collection followed by tactical folders and then custom traditionals. I only own two fixed blades.

My current EDC's are both custom traditionals.

Mine is made of mostly tac-folders, I'm not much for the description but its what its become.

I don't have a mass of one style but I would have to say liner lock and frame lock are the majority.

Mostly production tac folders for me. For now.

I'm starting to build up my fixed blade set, and this is more where the interest level is now. Not a collector, I only get what I actually intend to use, otherwise I sell anything that becomes a safe queen. But I'm more interested in fixed blades for their obvious advantages over folders: greater strength because no lock issues, usually quicker to deploy, and simpler to maintain (no springs to fail, no blade movement, no pivots to adjust).

Mine is about 75% traditional production, 20% tactical production, and 5% fixed blades, but it's mostly because I found a box of my grandfather's old slipjoints. I'm going to start boosting my tactical and fixed blade numbers up once I get myself a Case swayback.

I like a 4" convex fixed blade, hunter style I suppose. I have more 2.5" up to 5" blades than anything else. I have Fiddlebacks, Bark Rivers, ESEE, a Blind Horse, and a few TOPS.
Right after than would be my machetes, then tomahawks.

I use heavier knives for work's daily task such as my JYD II and other Kershaws. These are excellent working knives with their great stainless blades, liners, and bolsters along with their micarta and G10 handles. After a hard week in the pocket you can just about wipe them off and they are back to 100%. Hard to beat for utility value. Not much character, though.

My real love is a good traditional.

And just inherited my father's collection of knives, which had a couple of my Grandfather's knives. Nothing like a 50 - 60+ year old working man's knife that has been used hard and loved for decades.
