what type of knife?

does anyone know what type of knife is this and if is there a similar one to be purchased. i can assume it's not a practical design but i like it for it's style.

Very similar to a Gil Hibben Dragon Lord...

That would fall into the Fantasy Knife category. Most knives in that category ( unless custom or from a high end maker ) are not really meant for actual use, they are more what we call "Wall Hangers".

BUT as jlauffer said, it instantly was recognizable as a GilHibben design.

Who among us from 30 to 50 didn't have drool all over SMKW catalogs during the mid 80's???
