What type of sheath for a LEBK10

I have been wanting to replace the stock sheath that came with my all the bells and whistles limited edition BK10 and wanted your thoughts and input. Here are mine.
My first thought was kydex or plastic or whatever, but last week I was out in the woods with my BK2 and the temp dipped down to the low forties (about 4000 ft) in the early morning. What I found (obviously) was that the knife did not "pop" out of the sheath in colder temps as easily as when in warmer, and started to take a toll on my thumb. Now this might not be a big deal to some, but when winter temps dip to ten below zero as they do here this could be an issue. So maybe plastic is not my best bet. I dunno.

Second thought was leather scout style carry but this is a fairly long knife to be across my lower back. I wear a 32 inch waist in jeans so I am not quite as wide across the back as bigger guys. Again I dunno.

Third thought and the one I am leaning toward is a "pouch" type sheath. I prefer to carry a knife high which is why I don't like the stock BK10 or BK2 sheaths. I cut the belt loop down to just belt width on my BK2 sheath. Pouch sheaths allow to carry high and the shape of the BK10 I believe will sit in a pouch sheath well unlike a BK2 that would eventually spear it's way through the bottom of this kind of sheath. And again I dunno.

And again the purpose of this thread was to get some input, so fire away. Please.

I usually wear my BK2 scout style, and my waist is about the same size as yours (33-34), and don't find it hard to move around or anything like that. In fact, I can sit in chairs and do everything normally, I just have to pay attention when I turn left when close to things, as the handle sticks out a bit on my right side.

That being said, when the tweeners come out, I'll likely wear those scout style instead, because while the BK2 doesn't bother me there, you can sometimes notice the extra weight.

And while camping the last two times, I was around 5-6k feet, and did notice the sheath hardening up a bit, and the sore thumb. I think I'll just put something over the thumb ramp to take a bit of the bite out (single piece of cotton seems to do the trick).

Good luck

Have ya tried a baldric style of carry? Not saying that it would be the answer to all your questions, but it might be an option worth looking into. I haven't ever tried it, so I can't speak to it's effectiveness, but there are many that swear by it, so one would think it is a viable option. Just a thought. Kinda in the same boat as you to be honest, really want a different sheath for mine too.

first gen esee 5 sheath. like the camillus but way better made, big pouch and tin, molle compatible. The insert is plastic, but the retention with the strap is good. it came with two straps, bottom didnt fit, so the bk10 cut it off.
