What type of wheels do Esteem grinders use?

I need to replace a small wheel for my Esteem grinder. I think it uses Bader style wheels but I don't know what the technical name for those are. Also what is the most useful hardness for the wheel and I am seeing some that give a max speed. How do I work out what the max speed on my grinder is? I have a Leeson 2hp on a VFD using 120v with 1725 RPM and a 6" drive wheel. I'm not sure if I loose speed along with power by not using 230v.

Formula for sfpm on a 2x72 grinder is rpm x wheel diameter/3.82...so yours would be running about 2700 sfpm on 100% speed. If you're using a kbac vfd

Running on 120V does not decrease the speed. The KBAC VFD can be set up to give you a wide range of speeds via jumpers and trimpots though, so there is no telling what speed you are running from the motor nameplate.

Can't you just call Esteem and ask about the wheel type? Their website has contact info (Brett Mathews (503) 806 3558).

Do you know if running on 120v cuts down the speed or just max torque?
No not speed, torque will just be limited to 1.5hp (whatever that is). Is your vfd running at 1x speed or 2x?

I have never opened it up so I guess I don't know. I now have 220v so I have been thinking about opening up the box and switching it over. The grinder doesn't seem very fast so I doubt it's doubled.
