No more gun threads?

I can't see it posted anywhere, but two threads of the gun related variety have been moved.

This is a heavy blow...

Of course, the owner of the boards is free to regulate as he sees fit. So I have no complaint. Just sadness.

perhaps the final blow to the Cantina, in my eyes.

It was my one stop shop. I could talk anything here. Then religion got tough, then, the HI stuff was separated. I hardly ever visited the HI site after the split. I was hoping to make the cantina my main home again.

It is not a hardship to travel to different forums, but i am just a tried person right now...

Very well.

Spark, et al, I have no anger toward any of you. I appreciate how you have provided this forum for so long. I respect that the time has come for more changes.

I hope my sadness causes no offense.

No dramatic farewells!

I'll still be around. I'll get over it...

I count it an honor and a joy to have seen the Cantina in the bright light of its late afternoon, and through its fading twilight.

Alas.

Night might be better than the artificial light that glows over a sign that no longer has the same meaning.

I guess it doesn't really matter.

farewell then.

back to the real world.

It's been great to know y'all!

Tom

Sorry ya feel that way, Tom.

I was kinda surprised to see them moved as well. Seems to not fit the Cantina idea of a free forum when you want to talk to HI guys, not the whole board.

Maybe I don't get the Cantina idea?

Things change. I'm not too fond of this new development, but I guess I'll have to roll with the punches.

Tom, I'm sorry to see you go, friend. I did not move the thread, I know that much. I'll check with Ted to see if he moved it and why. I know he's on limited internet access right now due to a move. If he didn't do it, then I'll check with Esav or Spark or whomever. It's never been an issue in the past to talk about guns. Based on the title of this thread, I had no idea it was about the moved threads.

I really do apologize for not catching things sooner. However, my forum time is the same as my work time, and in this economic climate I have to make sure to scrap for every dime I can get. Basically, all I have had time to do is make sure there isn't any spittin' or fightin'.

If there is ever an issue that any of you all have regarding on the goings on here, feel free to let the management know via the Support forum or shot me a PM. Email is not the best way to get a hold of me since BFC does not support gmail. If you would like to get a hold of me directly, feel free to shoot me an email to my gmail account ANYTIME you would like. jake.kelley@NOSPAMgmail.com obviously take out the NOSPAM part.

I also did not move this thread. Normally, if a supermod moves it, they leave a post to explain. I'm not sure either, but guns have never been an issue before.

Not since I can remember.
My antique .38 was purchased with cash -- bought from a retired Peoria cop in 1958 who had carried it for 30 years. Never been registered and never will be. I think it is referred to as a "throw away" but I'll never do that, either.

I too remember Uncle Bill telling us about his ol' antique .38. Now that I've got my father-in-laws 40 or 50 year old .38 special, I often think about Bill's.

Ted, thanks for keeping us in the loop. I figured that you hadn't moved the threads, but I thought I had better ask before I went to Esav or Bastid or Spark with it.

Hi guys. I don't mean to be an interloper, but I have been looking for a forum with freedom of expression, but not with the usual rude folks I encounter on some forums. There is a lot going on in the world now, and I like to discuss it with my fellow knife collectors and outdoorsmen. So, hello! :D

Hate to see you go Tom. Things here seem to be cyclic... better/worse/better gain. Maybe this is just one of those valleys? Hope so.

I just checked out those moved threads... and I don't see any reason why they'd be moved. The Cantina was created for off-topic threads in order to preserve the community atmosphere that Uncle Bill created at this forum. I guess Spark can do as he sees fit (if he had anything to do with the moves). But moving such threads would really mess up our free-thinking spirit of our Cantina :(.

A big THANK YOU to Basid for moving our threads back:thumbup:. He didn't move them to begin with, and I still dunno what happened but they're moved back home:)

Hope Tom sees this.

Thanks guys.

I appreciate Kis and Steely for reaching out.

I should have been more patient. Since it seems I was mistaken, and that I assumed things had changed again, my stated course of action no longer seems justified.

Oh well, this won't be the last time I embarrass myself!

It sure ain't the first.

I appreciate the kind words from all. I had made up my mind to not stick around and read everything that might come up, since that seems kind of morbid, but it was nice to see your comments after getting Steely's e-mail today, and realizing that there had been a mistake somewhere.

cpl said it well for me. When I want to talk guns, and whatever else here, YOU are the folks I want to talk with. No offense to the other folks, but you all are a unique bunch, and the gun talk, and other stuff, is good here.

Thanks for bearing with my short lived absence.

Tom

:)

Tom, without you, this may never have come to a head. Thank you. You were the catalysis the got this thing turned around. Sometimes I get a little busy with work and all that goes along with it that I forget that I have a responsibility to this place. It was wrong of me not to keep a closer tab on things. For that, I sincerely apologize. Y'all make this too easy of a job sometimes. I shouldn't take that for granted.

Besides, unlike a lot of folks, I have a computer in front of me pretty much 11 hours a day with full internet access.

My bad, guys.:o

Tom, it's great to have you back...truly is:thumbup:

I thought something was odd when they were moved, but I chalked it up to the powers that be. I also thought it odd that they were moved and no explanation was given. Usually when a Supermod moves something, they give one.

Anyways... WELCOME BACK, TOM!!
This place would'nt be the same without you.

I am very glad you're going to stick around Tom. God bless you and your family.
