What US company do you C'dians order from?

I want to order some knifemaking supplies from the states and I was wondering which one do you guys north of the border like me (I am in Quebec) use. I've had trouble in the past with companies shipping through private companies and not USPS. Mainly very high custom fees.

The two biggest companies I am looking at are Jantz and Texas Knifemaking.

So which one do you use and why?

Thanks

Pad

Rob! from Ranger Original (in Alberta) is fantastic!! I have an order from Masecraft coming in but I have not dealt with them before. I have dealt with K&G before but the shipping I was charged on one order was too high (in my opinion only). The service I received was fantastic though!
I must add I am not an efficient maker so I have more materials than knives but I would definitely give Rob a try.

You might want to contact Jeff Diotte at Downie Knife Supply in Ontario. He has in the past supplied much of what I use, including grinders, steel, pins, handle material, etc. If he doesn't have it in stock I am sure he can get it. Jeff's number is 519-978-9387. Saves a lot of shipping and customs costs.

But your question is what US company? I have used Jantz more than the others, they will get the stuff out to you same day and are good to deal with.

Jantz or any other supply company will ship as you wish, whether UPS or postal services, if you just tell them how you want it done. I like surface mail because I am not always at home to receive a courier - on the other hand I can always instruct the company to mark the shipping order "does not require signature" and they will leave the package at the front door. This does not always work when shipping into Canada from the US.

Hi Pad
how far are you from the border. i use a P.O box in the states and just go down get it 9 times out of ten they don't make me pay the duty. i order from K&G a lot and all my belts come form POP'S

have a good one

Good idea Dave but I am too far from the border and would not need to order enough times a year for it to be worth the trouble. I was wondering where Waterville was but it turns out I pass close to there on my way to my trailer in Maine each year on our vacation. Small world. :)

Thanks for your help.
