I picked up a nice BG-42 110, n/s frame with finger grooves. The tang stamp is the nice Old English "Buck Custom USA" and there is no "designers choice" stamp on the reverse. Did the Pete's Custom Shop knives have the "designers choice" tang stamp?or not? Anyone know the first year for the "designers choice" tang stamp?

Scott, It was Richard Rochell that was doing the "Buck Customs" at Buck before Buck employees Pete and Joe H. took it over in late 2007 or early 2008 . I seem to remember Richard doing it for 2yrs. or 3yrs. prior . He was merely inserting an available custom blade from inventory into an existing handle which had up grade wood and not requiring much extra finish work . I think Buck realized a market there and made the move .
Your blade looks to be one of those from the 20yr. reunion release in 2008 as they were stamped in that manner . I'm trying to remember for you as much of this is not written . DM

I could swear there was a Pete's Custom Shop at Buck back before 2007, and there were a lot of nice choices for handle material.

There could have been Scott . I don't recall maybe 334 Dave does .
I'll bet Leroy would know . DM
