What Busse knife was your first one, or if you are just starting out which one will be your first?

My first one was a Busse Basic 9, I beat the crap out of that thing and it held up to everything. Regrettably, after I got my BM, I decided I didn't need two big knives so I sold the Basic 9. What a fool I was, I still wish I had that baby back ;):D:D

So, how about you??

Had seen Busse for a number of years. Couldn't bring myself to fork out that much green.

Then, I started looking into the "If you could only have one knife" scenario. Thorough research kept coming back to Busse.

Met Dave R at a gun show, talked for a good bit, bought an apprentice Mean Street, and ended up with a Straight Handled Steel Heart.

From there, it has been beg, borrow, whine, to feed the habit...

My first Busse what a Basic 9 that I bought way back when Bladeforums was young :) I think that it was a Bladeforums specially priced one. I've posted pictures of it on the forum gallery before, it's all sorts of love, the smooth finish is covered with rub marks and it's gone in a couple places. Great knife at an unbeatable price.

I posted this on the Busse Combat Forum in reply to
"Why a Busse?

Well, here's why, and what was my first.

On March 29th last year I bought my 1st Busse.
It was #14 AfterShock Bolo,
That was also the first time I had ever seen a Busse.
I had been watching the forums for a while, heard everyone talk about how they loved the knife and the STEEL.
I also saw how Jerry stood behind his knifes.
The kicker for me to check one out was when a guy was posting on another forum board that he damaged his blade while chopping threw an old tree, there was wire or a fence post or maybe it was an old ships anchor that the tree had grown around over time.
But any way, he hit it several times with his blade before he knew it.
It must have been pretty hard as it "dented" the blade in a whole heard of places.
Well, this guy was talking about it and the story got back to Jerry, jerry tried to track him down but couldn't locate him.
So Jerry posted on the Busse forums asking for help.
To make a short story long, Jerry found the guy, fixed up his knife and simply stated
"It was unintentional damage and is covered under the Busse warranty"
So I bought the bolo, it came with black paper micarta handles. The 1st day I had it I'm outside chopping up a tree and it begains to rain. (I didn't know it at the time but since it was a limited edition knife it was also made to look pretty. (hince the paper macarta) instead of canvas macarta.)
Anyway, as it begain to rain the paper macarta grips got a little slick, I posted on the forums asking if this was normal from a Busse.(remember, this was my 1st)
Jerry called me to explain the paper was slick but pretty, he also offeres to replace them with the combat grade (not slick when wet)grips at no charge.
He even paid for the shipping back to me.
There was even a follow up call after I had it back to see how it was doing.

Between the INFI steel, the durability, the warranty, and Jerry standing behind his knifes I am hooked.
It is the absolute toughest knife with the toughest warranty with a stand up guy behind it knife in the world.

Like Mike, I looked for a long time, but didn't buy. The I bought a SH-E and it's all been downhill since. By the way Mike, I love the BA I got from you!

It all started for me with a Mean Street apprentice. The performance was great, and I suddenly had to have the Basic 5...and 3, 7, and 9 afer that. Since then, it's been rather expensive, but once you start, you just can't stop! (Why would you want to, anyway?)

My first was my early INFI straight-handle SHII. I'd been doing alot of research from different knife makers, weighing options, and pondering. E-mail correspondence with Aubrey, a fella in Africa, where they really use their knives on a daily basis, cemented the decision. I ordered mine back right before Jerry's accident, so the wait seemed eternal at times while Jerry healed, but it was well worth it. Now, I can't imagine not owning at least one Busse.

I've started with 2. So there was no first one. THough the first to come out of the package was good old BM :) I took this pic either the same day or next...

My first was a SH-E. Although I was firmly hooked when I bought it, my experience in using it has only tempered my addiction to Busse. I'm sure there are many more to come :D .

My first was a second-hand, like new, Natural Outlaw purchased from a buddy (TwoRavens)--who had procured a ZT version N.O.

Then, that was followed by a Mr. Mojo LE with custom serial #.

Next, geez that's half the fun of waking up each morning--trying to decide which!

I wanted a Busse Badger Attack (SH) for years, but couldn't see
spending $250 on a knife. Heck, I was buying my hunting knives
for $25!!LOL Well, I found the Busse forum right around the time
they were going to drop the Badger Attack.
Well, I decided to finally get one, since they were going bye bye.
The search began, no Badger Attacks!!! I emailed Busse, and Dave
Roberson told me to give Andre Dumouchel a call. Just so happens
Andre had one left and I told him I wanted it. Now I have 13 Busses
plus 5 still on order. So much for being too expensive!!

On my twenty-fifth birthday my girlfriend presented me with my first Busse, a Desert Warfare Mean Street:D I almost fell over when I unwrapped it and realized how stout it really was after only have seen a picture or two on the net.
A few months later I finally got a Battle Mistress that I had ordered nearly a year prior and beat the living bejeezus out of to see if all I had read was true.
They both took an extreme amount of abuse and after becoming comfortable with sharpening the wierd edge (which turned out to not be such a big deal to maintain after all:rolleyes:,) I realized that they were worth the wait and I had to have more:D

...it's a good thing Jerry doesn't have direct deposit billing set up or we'd all be staring outside from Frigidare box windows cut with a Steel Heart:p

My first was a ATS-34 Steelheart, followed by a SH Badger and a Combat Recruit (still got it Strabs?) After that I changed to the E-Handles.To be truthful, I find the E`s more comfortable to use.

My first--a Basic #5. Still have it, still use it, still love it. Helluva lotta knife in a very handy size, super ergonomic, tougher than a 16-hand mule. Absolutely no complaints about this knife, except that it would be hard to replace if I lost it. (That's why I have another, hermetically sealed in a fire-proof vault, the combination to which is known to no other living soul. If I die? Let my heirs hack their way in--whoever has the tenacity to get to my spare #5 MIGHT even deserve it. :D )

My very first was a straight hadled battle mistress. Don't have that particular one, but plenty more to remind me of that first step into the Busse world :)

My first fixed blades were Mad Dogs, and then I got a Busse #9. Couldn't find anything to use it on, but recognized the quality when I saw it. Sold the Mad Dogs shortly thereafter.

Figured a Lean Mean would be more my style, and I could figure out ways to use that - but before I got that knife I started collecting straight handles.....the rest, well, "I liked the product so much I bought the company", oops, that was Remington Shavers. I liked the product (and people) so much I wound up working for the company....

Geraldo, man I miss that puppy. If you ever need quick cash, let me know....

I can still hear that snap...

My first was a basic #5 I received in a trade wit da man himself, and since then I get uncontrollable shakes at the mention of the word Busse.Sometimes I wake up at night screamin for my SJackyl(is this normal?)They truly are addictable knives.Oh yea and cost?I always find it funny how it is that everyone sittin around deer camp with their $700 rifles never seem to have a sharp knife when it comes time to do some skinnin or tater peelin, but they always manage to borrow mine. Now I have to go clean my $700 deer rifle and sharpen my new SH-E I traded for today,...Damn!

My Valentine's Day Contest Win (Basic #3) made history in my life!
Lurked for awhile on the forums before that; read up on Busse / INFI toughness; was very impressed. That opinion has only increased!!!
Yo, Will York !! Write me into your will, will ya, Will?
i think this locksmith could get into your safe, for a #5 Prize! Heh, heh, heh...;)

Of Course, EVERY model we get that we haven't had / handled before is like our "first" all over again... My Satin Jack LE redefined Sweet & Sleek for me, for instance... My first #9 exuded COMFORT in a big blade; the second one (Krinkle-Koat) just seconded the motion; the Steel Heart Attack Variant whispered Quality... the #7 speaks Versatile... My Bolo Variant sings out "Usable Security"... it just never stops...
