It was a struggle; but I broke my knife buying cycle for a while. My last purchase for myself was a fixed blade that I ordered last September (just over a year ago) & received in late November. (I did purchase a few things for friends, and a kitchen knife that didn't quite do it for me that I gave away.) Most recent purchase was about a month ago - a Pacific Salt for a diving buddy.
I'll admit that I'm starting to twitch a little; and that I went as far as putting a knife in my cart...I started out with the intent of giving it to a good friend for his birthday, then realized that I wanted it - so I removed it. I've found myself looking for a knife to buy; but not finding one that I want enough to purchase.
