What was your first custom knife and do ya still have/use it ?

My first one was my JK Hiker XL, this knife has seen lots of adventures and is still one of my go to knives.
I took this pic last week so as you can see she is still as pretty as ever !;)

If you count Randalls as custom, my first was a #1 All Purpose Fighter I bought in 1977. It had a 6" stainless blade, double nickel guard, #2 "coke bottle" leather handle, and my name engraved on it. It cost a whopping $96.00!
If not, it would be a Kevin Hoffman hunter. He used to live about 35 miles from me, now he is in Florida.

Hi pit

It was my JK Kephart, and I still use and love it!

Let's see, my first two JKs were knives John made and posted for sale so those don't really count as customs. The first one I ordered was my EWOK so I guess that's my first custom.
Still got it since it's part of my woods trio along with my Lobo and Hatchet.

You read my mind Pit.

Mine are all JKs. A tin knife an EWOK and Rule #9. I have at least two of these with me at all times.

I still count pre-made ones as customs....what's everyone else think ?

If it has to be one we actually designed then it's still one of John,s...LOL, my TTSK....pic from about two weeks ago !

I have a couple Randalls but they were made without any of my input. My definition of custom would be where I either designed the knife or specified certain features(handle material, blade thickness etc) when ordering so my EDC Anniversary would be it.

Well my first actual custom was a wharncliffe by Jack O'Neil , but the first one that I chose features on was my JK Kephart HD I believe. I still wish I had gotten the regular Kephart as I prefer a thinner blade, but I've been using this one more and more. Hre's a pic from a couple months ago.

My first custom was a Jim Behring (Treeman) Bird & Trout which I still own. My first JK was a "bottom K" Hiker's Back-up. The first JK that I had a hand in was the MI Trail Knife. Still have them both.

my first custom was a Stek (Craig Stekete) - I picked it up at a gun show in the late 80's or early 90's in Topeka. (it had a #9 tag -- not sure if this really was the 9th knife he made or if that was just how he numbered them for that show)
And yes, I still have it.

Mine would be from Aaron Gray (Gray Wolf knives) - I bought several of his designs and had him make one to my specification. I do use them when the mood strikes me.

I traded into my first custom, it was a Dave Farmer EDC. The first custom that I was involved with, picked out handles etc. was a Kentucky Woodsman.
