2005 was the year for slipjoints for me, I bought several this year, but the ones that really stand out were:

1. Case 6.5375 Bonestag Cattle King Stockman, this big folder is just beautiful, a great do-it-all knife with great quality and looks.

2. Boker Grand Canyon Bone Congress, haven't had this one for very long, but it has quickly become a favorite. My first Boker, but the fit and looks are perfect and the good old fashioned 1095 carbon blades have reminded me of why they ruled for so long. I eat alot of apples, and have used this Congress to cut them and now the blades have that "I've been carrying this thing for 20 years" look already. The stepped bolsters give it alot of class.

So what's your favorite "slip'" you picked up in "05"?

I was fortunate enough to do pretty good in 05. Hard to pick my favorite but if I had to choose a couple I would have to say a little Gary Crowder saddlehorn and a Case/Tony Bose collaboration whittler.

Have to be my Victorinox soldier. Handles all my pocket knife chores, and then some. Built like a bank vault.

Y'all might laugh, but mine is an ancient old New York Knife Company teardrop jack I got off eBay for a song.

Yeah, it ain't no Tony Bose, but since I restored it myself, it's a favorite. I also love the pattern, especially that old-fashioned swedged spear-point blade with the long pull.

I have esentially the same knife but both blades read "NEW YORK KNIFE CO WALDEN", no Hammer Brand and no pattern number. It's a nice knife and I like the half stops.

My favorite? A couple. I like the standard Schrade 34OT. It just works... A Queen cocobolo whittler is right up there too.

jujigatame, nice knife, but i also like the E.G. Memorial in your sig', he was a pretty cool guy!

That nice Texas Toothpick slippy I got at Don Hanson's sale for the widow of his friend/collector.Early Hanson Damascus blade.Made in '94,but it was safed and is perfect. To me. :)

Thanks. Eddie was definitely one of a kind. Just a terrible shame that his past addictions and abuses so greatly accelerated his demise.

Also, a question to Thomason: is that Case/Bose model the one where the large blade is a lockback and the two smaller blades are slips?

I rediscovered quality via a used Victorinox Red Alox Pioneer, solid lockup, no blade wobble and very decent steel that sharpens up with convex edge on strop.

The best quality fit and finish in slip joints today.

Regards,
FK

That's the one, jujigatame. Bastid was kind enough ask who wanted one and then put in an order from one of his contacts. Got'um at a good price.
I will try and post a picture or two tomorrow. Wait until you see how wide the tang is on the locking blade.

My favorite was a SAK Farmer. The versatility of the knife, overall quality, and usefulness of the primary spear point blade were great. Pretty slim package too.

I only bought 2 this year.
A Camillus Muskrat with (real delrin scales) and a PJ Tomes single blade trapper (12C27 & Jigged Bone).

How's that for each end of the spectrum?
:D

In the top picture the primary blade is open a little to better show the width of the tang and lock bar

I saw a listing somewhere last night that said the tang was 1/4" thick and that looks about right. Great knife, thanks for posting the pictures.

My favorite slipjoint in 2005 was a single blade stag trapper by Don Morrow. I also bought a two blade red jigged bone trapper from Don. I love them both but the stag rides in the pocket a little easier.

Amen, brother. The Vic Soldier is the answer whenever anyone asks you what is the the idea scout knife.
