Do you remember? Do you still have it?

Here is mine, a "Grass Knife" -

It's a heavy hitter and not often seen in DOtD offerings.

Yours?

Nice Grass Knife Andrew. I haven't seen one of those before. Thanks for showing it. Kinda like a mutant Hasiya. My first khuk & HI is my 18" Chainpuri by Sher(the Tiger). I love it. (Can't find the pictures that I thought were loaded. Posted them on 4.23.10)

My first H.I was my Bura made M-43 with horn handle. Still got it and it still works great.

My first was a horn handled WWII by Santosh. Don't have a pic on this computer.

12" Ang Khola with a dull village finish
Recognized quality but it wasn't the kukri for me - sold it

Andy, aren't those also called an R-1 or Stick Knife? Been kicking myself for letting Kevin Burke grab Skyler's for months now. :grumpy: ;)

In fact, I bought my first HI product from Skyler and I still have it, it is a Bhimsen Model Khukuri.
Like the one that started this thread, you really don't see these much.

My 1st is a Shop 1 BAS complete with the scrolled buttcap and engraved with the words "MADE IN NEPAL." I still have it, I'll never get rid of that one.

Mine was a 15.5" Kumar-made villager. I had emailed Uncle Bill about one right as it popped up on the DoTD. It was Fate:)

Still have it, and it has accompanied me on many an adventure.

My first was a 30" Sirupati, still got it but don´t use it that much anymore. The Tarwar is better :)

My first was a 15" Sirupati. Recently sold it, since I just wasn't using it that much. Then the day after that, I managed to snag a Giant Chitlangi Bowie. I'll have that one for the rest of my life, if I have any say in the matter.

A Vim Uddha sword. I gave it to my Escrima instructor a couple of years ago, & I still see it nearly every day :)

My First H.I. is a 12"-12oz UB Memorial Salyan Special by Bura with buffalo horn handle.

oh, it's very heavy :) model R1 ... never heard it called a grass knife though. definitely a good limber.

reason not seen much? i think they only made like 7 total. very few without the brass end (full length wood), and full tang. love mine :)

one of my first was an 18 inch GRS auntie special. still have it. need sharpening :) one of these days, i'll get a slack grinder to do it the proper re convexing it needs.

this is OLD skool, they don't make them like this anymore:

my very first one was a classy Bhojpure from Museum Replicas, but not a replica. sweet.

Ah, you never forget your first one-

20" Shop 1 sirupate, cracked horn handle repaired by Uncle Bill and sold as a blem. It's been beat like a borrowed mule, done a tour in the sandbox with Sarge, and still looks pretty good for an old gal.
