I am surprised i couldnt find this already but if it exists i honestly didnt see it. So what was your firstknife? What mistakes did you make before you knew about blades?
Ill go first, mine was the small black version of the Case sodbuster, which i immediately took to a bench grinder to add serrations. Yeah...

Your turn:thumbup:

As a kid I had a bunch of flea market trash... the biggest mistake I used to make then was thinking that every knife was a throwing knife (including folders). It took a few busted pivots and cracked handles for me to learn.

As far as name brands... I remember going to the only cutlery shop by me and saving up to afford a $40 buck skinner but it wasn't my first. I did have a few flea market Fury knives too (made famous by the movie Cobra).

Queen single blade jigged bone barlow (still have it). Gift from my grandfather.

my first knife was actually a Leatherman Wave, which technically is only part knife. The first single-blade knife I had was a SOG Flash II.

my first knive was Victorinox Swiss Army, still sharp enough :D

Some red-handled SAK of some kind. Don't know much about what happened to it.

my first knife was a cheap penknife i bought at a small shop first mistake i made was to test the sharpness by running my finger down the edge as opposed to across the edge still the knife did the job it needed to. then i moved into saks.

My first knife was some sort of novelty bowie knife. It was probably about 3 inches long total and had a leather sheath. we would go hiking and all my friends wanted to carry it.
My first real knife was a Victorinox pioneer alox
My first real knife I bought was a spyderco delica

Got my first knife as a gift when I was Cub Scout. I found it recently and hope to clean it up some so it's usable again.

First one I clearly remember having was something similar; a "Boy/Cub Scout Utility Knife" w/ black scales. The mistake I made: I let it rust to @^*% (Hey, I was a kid at the time). No idea where it is now.

The SECOND one I clearly remember (NO, I don't have THAT good a memory that I remember EVERY piece of cutlery I've ever had) was a Victorinox Pocket Pal (just two blades -- one long, one short). And again, I don't know where that is now, but it's something I'd LOVE to try and find again; had it for years and it NEVER dulled or rusted during that time, in spite of my not taking steps to protect it.

A two-inch, 1" single 'blade' folder with a cheap plastic "Alamo" graphic wrap on the handle...from the Alamo gift shop in San Antonio on a visit there with my parents when I was 6 or 7. I was in trouble within a week with it and they took it from me. I think I got it back later but have no idea what happened to it.

I was on to Italian stilettos and autos after that. By high school/college I'd purchased an Old Timer OT108, which I still carry, and have stayed pretty much with good knives since.

My first knife was also a cub scout knife. It is the only knife that I owned that I don't have right now.

My first knife was also a cub scout knife which seems to be a common theme here. My first knife that was memorable and really started my interest in knives was a early Spyderco Delica with a molded clip.

My oldest knives are the 2 on the left. The little black one I never carried much, it was a gift from my grandfather over 40 years ago. The yellow one I've had almost as long, it was handed down from my father after he broke off the tip. My first knife would have been something like it, handed down from my father.
