Doesn't matter who you are, where you're from, or what your preferences are...there's one thing that unites us all: we (knife guys) are addicts. From the most ignorant of novices (me) to the grittiest of knife vets, our addiction to blades binds us together. So which one started it all? What single knife can you blame for the years of abuse your wallet has undoubtedly endured? I'll be interested to see how many people answer the spyderco tenacious.
Have a good one

I always had knives but the first knife that I bought that got me into in the hobby/forums and such was the benchmade mini-grip.

First high quality knife was a mint first gen Carbon V CS Trailmaster... still wish I hadn't sold it. The convex edge was the sharpest thing I had ever seen.

what first got me hooked is a benchmade 940, definitely made the right choice. Blu whats yours?

I've had knives every since I could remember. My first quality knife was a Kershaw leek. That's when the problems really started.

Though I too had a variety of knives over the years growing up, I think if I had to narrow it down to one that really presaged what this addiction would become, it would have to be one of those Benchmade Emerson collaboration from back in the early to mid 90's.

I had a drawer full of gas station junk and bud k specials growing up and have loved knives as long as I can remember but when I was 17 I won a Benchmade griptilian and that opened my eyes to quality cutting tools so I junked all the bud k crap and started buying the good stuff.

Kershaw skyline here. First time I would catch myself flipping a knife like a habit and just looking at the lines and blade shape. Of course that was thousands of dollars ago so maybe the memory shouldn't be as good as it is.

I have always had cheap knives and a buck or two but my first "real" knife was the spyderco manix 2. It opened my eyes to what a knife could be. And now I have benchmade, zt, spyderco etc and I don't regret it one bit!!

My addiction started at about 6 or 7 years old with a SAK, got a new one every year for scout camp. My reiteration into knife collecting was triggers when I was given an old Case XX about 5 years ago and the knife that showed me what could be expected of a modern folder, and showed me that no matter how many knives I own I ALWAYS need more was a Delica.
