What watch brands use Tritium hands/markers?

I'm thinking of getting a new watch (finally) to replace my beat up old Swiss Army one. I want a watch with perpetually glowing hands (none of this weak glow-in-the-dark crap on my SAW). Nothing too big, like the Luminox SEAL watches.

Suggestions?

I've been looking seriously at the Marathon Navigator at CountyComm. I need the date, so it's the Navigator or the SARs for quite a price increase. The Navigator has tritium vials on the hands, dial and one dot on the bezel.

Luminox, Marathon, H3 use tritium hands and markers. Stocker & Yale uses them as well.

Check this site out for more info......www.broadarrow.net

Be sure to check out the Post Exchange when you get there.

Tritium isn't the only option any more. The Lumibrite hands on my current Casio glow brightly the whole night long.

I've been wearing a Marathon GSAR for the past month and a half. I can't say enough good things about this watch, it is fantastic! There is literally no light condition where you can't read the dial clearly. The bezel is very nice with 120 click precision and the brushed satin finish has resisted scratches even with my clumsy antics. I'm hard on watches but I think I have found my match. We'll see if it remains ding free when the shirt sleeves come off in the spring though....so far mine has kept excellent time, gaining about 4 seconds a day which is fine by me. The SS bracelet is decent but I prefer the watch on a 2 piece Maratac nylon strap. Lot cheaper too.

H3/Tracer looks like it might just be the ticket for me. The 5900 Type 3 has a 37mm case, same size as my SAW, and is about $100. Can't go wrong with that. The Classic BD Pro looks very nice indeed, if a bit out of my price range. Everything else is far too big for my skinny wrists.

I think I'm gonna order a Type 3, and maybe save up for the Classic BD Pro.

Thanks!

Ya know, as much as some (including myself) poo-poo swiss Army Watches, they're quite good so long as you're not paying retail. Out of all the clocks and watches in my house, my Wenger keeps time better than all except the digital cable box. I can't remember the last time I reset it (a couple years probably), and it's still within 15 seconds of actual time. I just wish they used tritium or had Indiglo or something.

I wear a Luminox Navy Seal model and have for years. It keeps excellent time. It is very rugged and I never worry about it. I have had to replace the band a couple of times. They ain't cheap. I just ordered a Zulu band for the next breakdown.

I think Ball use tritium. They're a bit pricier than the ones mentioned but i think they are quite good quality. I've never owned one but have seen some at the shops and they have 'dressier' designs as well.

This is their Engineer Hydrocarbon model.

I'll vouch for the Luminox. I've owned maybe half dozen over the years and for what they are (a relatively inexpensive watch), they're wonderful! Right now, I have the Titanium SEAL and the Captains in my rotation of eight watches. They glow more brightly than any watches I've ever owned/seen (by at least 10x) and do not require being "charged up" by ambient light.

Ron - What model is the 2nd Luminox pictured?

Nevermind, I must have missed it the first time. The Captain Field watch or the Dress Field watch (more likely) definitely look like contenders.

I've owned a Marathon Navigator reissue, and a Luminox Capt. Dress Field watch for a couple or so years now. I've been very happy with both of them, and wear the Navigator every night when going to bed. It's great to wake up and just look at your watch and instantly see the time, without having to push buttons or anything. Luminox is very nice, and can be had for good prices off of ebay. But, if I was going to buy another, I might go with another Navigator. They're very tough, and quite good looking to boot. Ball is lovely, and has more trasers [tritium vials] than any watch I've yet seen, but the money...

Go to countycomm.com or broadarrow.net and be happy.

You wear a watch to bed? Why not just keep it on the nightstand?

I have a Luminox 3101 that has been modified by Bill Yao as well as a 3001 that had the Yao treatment as well. I also plan on getting another before the summer but it will most likely be an H3 P 6506 Titanium Commander.

Maybe I can give more exact information. It is the Luminox Captains Field Watch #1562. It's discontinued, but they have something similar in their product line. It came with a brown leather strap. I just put the black one one a couple days ago.

Hey, K.V.

I wear glasses, and anything farther away than about 6" from my eyes is out of focus. At night, all I need to do is check my wrist, and I can clearly see the time. :D

I wear my watch at night too. Never uncomfortable unless I am trying to get a good grip on the missus. ;)

By the way, I got my son a Luminox Nay Seal small for Christmas. He loves it!

I went with the H3/Traser P5900 for the time being. Should be here in a couple days.

Not the fanciest watch, with a plastic case and all, but the price was right. I'm kinda hard on my watches, so for daily use, a $400 watch is out of the question. I'm still pondering a Luminox 723 or 824, or the H3/Traser Classic BD Pro for dressier use. Maybe a birthday present to myself in April.

Thanks for the help guys.

Everywhere else I could find was in the UK (expensive overseas shipping).

That was the problem I had trying to find their watches. I didn't even think about checking eBay. Please let us know how things go with that seller and the watch.
