What watch to get?

I currently own three Freestyle Shark watches, one digital, one chrono, and one digital/chrono combo. I need to send the digital back to be repaired, the combo I wear sometimes, the chrono is for work, but it is getting beaten up.

I've been looking at some Victorinox and Tag Heur watches, but I can't afford those. I'd like to get a nice watch for social functions. The Wengers looked neat. I'd like a chrono style watch, something durable, that will last for a long time, waterproof is a must. My Shark watches are fine for work, but I'd like something more.I'm looking at a 150 dollar limit. Thanks.

Another stipulation, no metal bands, only leather or rubber/plastic.

Analog or analog/digital combo a must.

You might look at the Casio G-Shock line. They have plenty of stainless steel models, analog, digital and combo. There are a few that are just as nice looking or nicer than my Tag, and of course you also get the G-Shock construction.

Check here (there is about 4 pages of them)

Most should be in your price range

Hi silenthunterstudios-

Consider the excellent Seiko automatic watches. They are a workhorse and they'll springboard you into the world of mechanical automatics. Every watch aficionado should have at least one Seiko automatic in his or her collection.

Here is an example of hundreds in their collection that would easily meet your pricepoint:

I guess I should put down another stipulation, no metal straps, only leather or rubber/plastic. Thanks for the ideas.

Something for social...cheap and durable.
I'd get a seiko or a citizen.

Here are some nice Citizens (eco-drive). Price is around $159 i think at princeton watches.

Point, I like the 3rd one. I've been looking at the Wenger line, and I like the Navigator, Standard Issue and the Avalanche. I've also been looking at the G-shock analog watches.

A question about Victorinox watches. I'm guessing that anything under $50 isn't really made by Victorinox, so the "Swiss Army" watches I found on Flea Bay aren't really Vic made?

Im not sure I understabnd the question about the watches and whether or not they make knives for under 50 dollars.

Edited, sorry. Saw a lot of "Swiss Army" watches on eBay for about a penny, thought they might not be kosher.;)

Maybe, maybe not. I know there are lots of fakes on ebay. I post over at WatchUSeek forums, mostly in the G-Shock forums and know that many folks have bid on G-Shocks and have been shafted by receiving fakes.

I see other complaints of fakes as well, so if thats where you are going to buy, be careful.

I suggest a Citizen eco drive or a Seiko 5, Casio G shock maybe if it is acceptable for "Social functions". If you don't like Japanese, maybe a Hamilton Khaki (Swiss movement, can be found in Quartz, wind-up or automatic). For something a bit exotic the Russian made Poljot is nice.

Luis

Edited: Ooops I just checked the prices on the Hamiltons, I thought they were less, sorry.

You might want to take a look at the Casio Duro 200 line of watches...Those are awesome, and one heck of a good buy.
