since winter is coming soon. I have decided to use this time to study medicinal and edible plant life. I have been cross referencing about 4 books.

indentification of plant in nature**** one book

what that plant is good for**********one book

How to prepare it*******3 books

a very daunting task that I have been avoiding for a few years. one of the good things about not living in a city. It gives one time to study cause there ain't nothing else to do.

that is my main winter project related to survival.

have a good thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving.

My two main winter projects are building a frame-and-skin fishing dory, and investigating small steam engine technology. Come next summer, I have hopes of installing a small wood-fired steam plant as a worst-case backup power source.

A good book, but no - I'm relying on some conversations with Skip Snaith, plus his book, and those of John Gardner. Plus, I have an existing Swampscott dory to use as a model.

I'm concerned a bit about the weight - my current dory is laid up of Kevlar matting, and weighs 225 pounds, and sometimes I feel it is a bit light. I'm curious to see how the skin boat will do, because it's going to be a *lot* lighter.

bae, the san juans are beautiful islands, my favorite is Lopez.

I almost wish I wa there but we are having such awesome weather right now, 70's sun for the past 4-6 weeks. unbelieveable! from an old seattlite I am really enjoying this.

your projects sound great

good luck

chris
