This might sound like a dumb question, but I wanna make sure I am doing things right. Just got my liquid nitrogen filled. Going to do my first cryo-genic treatment this week. I see guys lowering their knives into the tank with wire. Is this a particular type of wire? Thanks in advance

be careful if the tank is very full. It boils and if you lower the knife too fast it can boil over the top. Probably wouldn't do much if you splashed it on your hands but if it got down into your shoe or a place where it could have prolonged contact you'll have a bad day.

A 10 or 20 foot coil of 10 gauge stainless wire is a handy thing to keep in anyone's shop. Costs about $0.80 a foot.

I use the stainless locking wire from harbor fright. It’s the wire used to lock nuts so thy don’t vibrate loose. I believe it’s 303 stainless. I like to use as thin of a wire as possible because reducing heat transfer is the name of the game if you want your LN to last.
