My stepdad has a knife he bought years ago with a really beautiful wood as a handle and were trying to figure out what it may be. Any ideas?

Not with the supplied photo, no.

Ok thanks. I’m trying to do it from photobucket on a cell phone and when I post it it just posts . I didn’t know if it showed the pic or not. I’ll give imgur a shot

Difficult to say for sure since it's such a small piece, but it looks like a darker zebra wood.

I'm hardly a expert though.

I was thinking Mango, Koa, or possibly but less likely, Ironwood.

Who is the craftsman?
Have you thought of reaching out to them and seeing if they have it documented, or recall making it?

Maybe they use one wood prominently, and looking up his/her other models may shed some light on the subject.

The man who made it is now passed away
