What would be a good piggyback for a Busse Basic 6LE?

So I'm looking for something small to use as a bush knive to piggy back with my Busse basic 6 LE. What knives would you guys recommend? I was looking at the Sykco 311 and a few others I want something that has covered tang so I don't have any cold or heat transfer. Has to be affordable. Thank you for all input!

Baised on your criteria, I would jump on the 311. Res-C is fantastic for limiting heat transfer, it's a great value, and the tang is covered.

How are you liking your Basic 6?

Supposed to be arriving today. We will see what I can do with it. Also any recommendation for a sharpener?

Well your Basic 6 should have a convex edge IIRC. So a strop loaded with some sort of compound would be your best bet. I don't have much experience sharpening convex edges so hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will chime in shortly. On the other hand you could always send it back to Busse and have them touch up the edge.

Sounds like the 311 is the ticket

SYKCO 311, sounds like a winner. Perhaps an Active Duty, Game Warden, Swamp Rat rodent solution. Depends on what handle material, blade finish, blade shape and price point you are seeking. It would be easy to list all the small Busse(kin) as contenders. Bang for the buck in this application is the 311.

From what you said about how you'd like the handle AND the price , I would suggest the Scrap Yard 311 as some others have . Nice small knife , yet very strong and at a great price .

Too funny. I was thinking the B-11 yesterday...or a Machete.

IF you are going smaller. I'd go with the Scrapivore as well. Evil little slicer. No real need for a uhltra ard worker (not that the 'vore isn't) with covered tang...you already have that. Reduce your weight / profile and get the 'Vore.

Like a bunch of the others, I'd say the Scrapivore to pair with the B6 LE. At their low price point, you could get a Scrapivore then either put a handle on yourself or have someone do it for you and still be on the cheap side of frugal.

When I think of pairing knives, especially in a piggyback config, I anticipate a significant size/function step between the pair. IMHO the step between a B6 LE and a 311 isn't very large. They're a small-size-medium and a size-small knife pair. Hence my recommend for a 'vore to establish a significant step between the two knives you're carrying. JMHO and YMMV.

That said, since it sounds like you already have a 311 in hand, I hope you enjoy the heck out of using it. Let us know how it works for your purposes.

RokJok brings up a good point about piggybacking.
Seems to make a lot of sence to pair a larger blade with a small one with a good bit of difference in lengths.
I got B4 LEs to pair with B10 LEs in a piggyback.
At first in wanted to recommend the B4LE to piggyback on the B6LE but that seemed like a illogical pair given their relatively similar size. The 311 should serve you well. Especially considering your interest in it from the OP.

Does the scrapivor come with micarta or Res-c? Every thing is making more sense with a larger gap between sizes. I want the smaller knive for crafting and food prep. Maybe taking down the handle some on the 311 might help?
