What would be a reasonable trade for a CF S90V para2?

This is NOT an offer, merely an info gathering inquiry.

I have a CF para2 that I am thinking of trading. So what is a reasonable trade for one? Would asking for a gayle Bradley plus something like a delica be too much? Or should I ask for more, or less? I'm new to the selling/trading aspect of knives but it seems like a good way to experience new knives while giving other people the chance at a coveted knife of their own.

So, what would be reasonable? Once again, this is NOT an offer, merely a conversation. If this is out of line, please let me know.

Well, I have a NIB Bradley and I'll go out and find a Delica somewhere. Hypothetically speaking, of course.

I like to trade around the values of each knife. Certainly the one I'm trading. So if I were asking for a trade I'd be wanting something around $180 to $200 in trade value but I am also very willing to compromise for something I want that may not quite reach the same value as an offer. That usually means something that is difficult to find though. In the end, I want something of equal monetary value or something of equal personal value to me.

That makes sense. I guess you'd just have to do a lot of research to find what items you want that will equal the value of your own knife.

I bet there are a few that would give you their left ___ for it! ;) But, I'm guessing you don't have much use for someone else's left ___.

That's the main reason I'm actually considering a trade. I've seen many people on this board that were disappointed when their preorders were canceled, or some that never even got the chance to get one. Mine just kind of fell into my lap, and while I love the knife I'm sure other people out there would love it 10x what I do. I've already sharpened the knife on the edge pro, so I hope that's doesn't turn some people off when the time comes.

Mostly I want to do this because I'm feeling generous. Someone else probably deserves this knife more than I do.

I think that's the right attitude, selling a knife is one thing, but trading it you're looking to allow someone to own the knife you have, while owning another knife yourself.

I would stick close to looking for a knife with similar street price, and similar condition, or you can go cash either way.

I doubt it would turn anybody off as long as you represent it as used, which it now is. A sharpened knife is not new even if it was never carried. I don't see used as being an impediment to selling but the value is lower. How much lower depends on who buys it and how badly they want it.

if you have something specific in mind, that makes trading much easier.

i would think the bradley and a delica is a fair trade for the para, so long as what you want are a bradley and a delica.

I've had a trade thread up for a while offering to trade a M4 Military for a S90V Para 2 and I think that's a reasonable trade. The Millie was about $220 new from Knifeworks and the Para went for $190 from Knife Center. That's a $30 gap in selling prices, but for a hot item like the Para 2 many folks would be willing to take the hit.

The time to strike is now while the Para 2 has the buzz. The M4 Millie was hot and sold for outrageous cash for a couple of weeks after it was released, now they aren't selling for much more than the original price. There's a danger that something new will eclipse your knife and it won't be as desirable as it is right now. Of course it could also be like the S90V Millie which just keeps going up...

You didn't help the trade value any when you sharpened it, but people will overlook that until the next big thing comes along.

I've seen people trade knives for rifle scopes that seemed to work out well for all involved. Trading for something other than a knife might bring you much more value from someone who wants to unload some personal white elephant for a S90V P2.

sharpening knife even with edge pro converting the knife from NIB to used, so I do not think collectors will be interested in this knife.
Still in my honest opinion you can get a little more than NIB Bradley + NIB Delica
M4 Milly is a good offer for you.

Thanks. I got this knife with the intention of keeping it, so that's why I sharpened it.

I guess everyone should be looking for me to put it up for trade then. M4 military would be nice.

Good point. I traded my Scrapyard Regulator (why did I ever buy a giant Bowie?) straight up for a USA-made Burris riflescope and I think both of us were happy with the deal.

Personally I wouldn't give up a S90V knife. ;)

The steel alone puts it in a class by itself, then add the CF and the limited production status.

Really? Thanks for letting me know that. I didn't know S90V was that special. Hmm I have a decision to make then.

S90V is ridiculously wear resistant, which makes it terribly laborious to grind it into knife blades. That's why you only see it used in limited production sprint runs, and why they cost so much more than the standard models with production grade blade steels (not that S30V is anything to sneeze at).

These guys know their stuff and speak the truth. Heed their wise words and reconsider a trade. I too have the S90V Para and wasn't exactly blown away when I first received it. But it grows on me with every day that I don't have to sharpen it, and those days keep piling on and on and on. Aside from the amazing and exceedingly rare steel, the knife itself is a winner -- so comfortable to hold and use, very good and rare compression lock, laser of a blade yet still thick enough to take crap, 4-way clip, light, and it simply looks awesome... just like a little CF Military but better because it won't scare as many people and probably fits your hand and pocket better.

Although, if you don't think the Spyderco Military is too big a knife, the M4 up for trade is a good bet. I'd have kept mine if it weren't so big. My CF Para2 in S90V is my replacement knife for that M4 Milie I had to give up. Tough call. Both AMAZING knives! Spyderco is really spoiling us lately!:)

Ain't that the truth! First the Sage 2, then the Manix 2 and now the Para 2. They just keep getting better and better. For the first time in my life I am completely satisfied with my EDC knife rotation OK, I would like to see a waved Para 2, but that's just overkill!

p.s. I think the M4 millie is amazing, but I just can't get used to a knife that big. 3.5" blade length is really the sweet spot for a folder for me.
