What would yall do? K390 dragonfly vs wharnie endura

So I have a 100 dollars my friend gave me for Christmas to get a new knife. My original idea was give my k390 delica a go at work for awhile and if I like it get a k390 dragonfly to be able to take a nice knife into some of my various secure government buildings I work in one or two days a month (under 2.5" blade).

So I was about to buy the dragonfly this morning and see they now have the k390 Endura wharncliffe on sale for the same exact price as the dragonfly. And the endela wharn for about same price.

My question to yall is, am I silly to pass up the deal on the endela or endura that's being discontinued and also is the same price as the dragonfly right now? I could always buy the dragonfly later or next year. Its not a huge deal, I have a leatherman juice I can take into gov jobs for now. Would I be missing out on something with the wharnie models or are they not unique enough to worry about and just get the dragonfly? I do gotta say I have greatly enjoyed the flatter halfway wharncliff shape of the delicas blade. But I don't really have a niche or use in mind for the bigger wharncliff endura/endela.

What would yall do?

Personally, I would go for the Endura, but I don't have to worry about blade length limits and my thumbs are long and not as flexible as they used to be, making it hard to hold onto the small handle of the Dragonfly and thumb it open. YMMV

One can scarcely imagine the capabilities of the mighty K390 Dragonfly until it is used for a time. Got mine a year ago and have not carried another brand or model since. The first Spyderco I bought was in the late ‘80s, a very progressive knife company. K390 is surreal, it holds an edge like crazy and is plenty tough, real carbon tool steel with a fine particle technology that really hits the mark. Nice patina too.

As for the Dragonfly, it was just as easy to cut the backbone out of a chicken, through the ribs and pelvis and finish the entire eight piece processing for the skillet, hog out a pile of wood shavings and slice up many veggies. No micro chips or rolls at all. It weighs 1.2 ounces and goes on every wilderness hike that we do several times a week. Many think a bigger blade will somehow magically save them but that’s an illusion. This wicked little predator will steal your heart and rightfully so. I really like the grip and ergonomics as well, affords the grips I use most in an outstanding way and I not throwing the term loosely. Mostly use a pinch grip while palming and a reverse paring grip but with my hiking glove I use with trekking poles the hammer grip is fine.
I have several other Spyderco’s models and other brands too. Haven’t looked at any since though and am thinking of getting another Dragonfly in K390 before they disappear.

On the one hand, it’s tempting to get the Endura or Endela at a discontinued price, knowing they won’t be offered in this steel again. Once they dry up from suppliers, you’ll see them on the secondary market at retail prices. But, if you have no use for a larger knife, why miss out on a great steel and size that you’ll put to use now.
Yes, buy what you’ll use.

I think yall are right. I'm going to go with the dragonfly to put it to use. Just was tempted with the other two being on sale coupled with the "panic" of it being discontinued. I am an over analyzing type of person.

Thanks yall

FOMO. The fear of missing out. It’ll make you go broke in the pocket knife world!

I just got the Endela and while I know I'm late to that party it really is the perfect size (to me) for EDC.
I've had multiple enduras and delicas going all the way back to the mid 90's. Loving this Endela wharnie.

I'd go Dragonfly. The wharncliffe blades on the Enduras and Delicas are pocket hogs without adding much benefit. Plus, the Dragonfly works well carried with the clip or in the pocket.

I am still waiting for the Spyderco store to get the K390 Dragonfly back in stock. I am part of their Ops Focus so I prefer to buy directly from Spyderco.

I most certainly suffer from FOMO. Thankfully I was able to reason this one out. I bought the dragonfly. Very nice knife. I am shocked at how much lighter it is than my delica though. I can clip it on my tshirt pocket and it doesn't pull my pocket down at all.

I would love to pick up a police 4 in this steel one day. Slowly. Slowly. The endela seems like a good option too, like my delica but fill the hand just a bit more.

Always a good place to buy from, you'll never get a counterfeit!
