What would you carry?

Hello guys. I'd like to read some advices. As you probably already saw in TV, we are in a kind-of war situation. Lots of civilians are getting hurt by Katiusha rockets. I usually carry a Victorinox Spirit, but sent it to fix the broken scissors & they say it will take at least a month. I had a Manix, but gave it to a friend that needs it more than me right now (many reserve soldiers have been recluted). I still had my good old SuperTool, a Camillus Heat & a Inova T1 for EDC, just in case. How would you "upgrade" this kit?
By the way, wich one would you buy for EDC & every task, all around knife: ParaMilitary or MiniManix? Let's read your comments. & if you want, you can pray for the end of this war; we do.

Minimanix all the way for EDC. IMO it is more of a tank of the two even though it is in a small package.

I carry a Leatherman Wave or Charge or even the Juice Pro depending on my clothing and my mood. As I don't like using the Leathermen for knife duty as, save the Charge, the blade steels kind of suck, I also carry a Spydy Ocelot I picked up at a knife show or my combo edge Manix if legality isn't an issue. I find myself using the Juice Pro if I'm going to have to leave the knife in the car as the holster clips over the belt and is easier to remove than the through the belt kind. On EMT duty I carry a Lone Wolf D2 double action as much for its rubber grip as it's auto opening feature. The grip allows it to stay put in the hand and also in my right front pocket. I've lost to many "old friend" knives to the job to chance something that slips right out. Good luck in your knife seach and I join you in wishing for a resolution to this sad, sad war. God Bless our Troops.

Brian

I also vote for a Mini-Manix. I am keping you in my prayers. Please stay safe! God Bless!

I like the Paramil.

It is plenty tough for anything that most people do with an EDC, plus the compresion lock is supre fun to play with. And very strong.

AR15/M16,M4 and the fixed blade Isralie knife. No messing around at this point. Sidearm would be a .45acp of some sort or another. Hope all is well, keeepem sharp

I agree that what you need at this point is a fixed blade. The Becker Crewman or Ontario RAT-5 might fill the bill.

I'm not recommending the fixed blade as a weapon, though it would work for that too. But if buildings are coming down, you may need a tough carbon steel fixed blade to cut, hack and even pry to free yourself and/or others.

Going only with gear I OWN at present, I'd tote my:

Endura 4
Leatherman Wave
Photon LED light

They'd be on my person at all times. My main concern would be losing power/water/communications, which could happen at any time.

I wouldn't be terribly worried about combat with the enemy because -- if you don't have a gun -- your goose is cooked 9.99999999 times out of 10.*

(* If I DID own a gun, I'd carry that too, however.)

Yeah you need a fixed. the swamprat company stor eis currently selling the rat 6. Its damn near indestuctible.

Also if you dont mind spending a little more money than you should get a strider. I recomend the BT .

If you want a smaller fixed blad which is a great deal then get a strider ED.

Those will all serve you well.

Keith beat me to it. Considering that you have a decent folder and multitool already, a fixed blade like the aforementioned two would suit you well. They are relatively inexpensive too. I know I would want one in you situation for sure.

For EDC, I favor the Paramilitary, if only for weight and bulk considerations. Either choice would make an outstanding folder that will put your Heat to shame.:D
