What would you change on this knife?

Ok here is a "kephart" style knife I made for a friend of mine. It is 1/8" A2 and is 9" OAl . Handle to tip is 4.5 and handle is also 4.5. It is rc 59-60. Something just don't seem right. Is the handle to far back from the blade? I am learning everyday and look forward to your feedback good or bad. Thanks.

Sorry about the pics, its dark out.

I think it looks good as-is. A nice simple design. Maybe position both pins back by maybe 1/2" is all I can really suggest. An in-hand pic might be helpful.

I really like that design and the wood is gorgeous.

I would move the pins back like JCavSD said but that is mostly cosmetic. I would also bring the edge back so it started closer to the handle.

That looks really, really good as is. The point the gentlemen above have made about the pins is a good one, but minor. Overall, I think you've pretty much nailed it. How does it feel in the hand?

It feels great in the hands but then again my opinion is biased. I was looking at the little kick where the finger choil is. Maybe if I made it flush with the edge? Here are a couple more pics. It still needs to be sharpened up.

The design looks good. It has been said before but you could move the plunge line back and change the placement of the pins to make ti more "balanced". Of course it's too late for these things now but maybe next time.

Very nice as is!
But yeah maybe less choil area, other than that a sweet knife!

I see the pins as a minor issue, and wouldn't be really concerned with that. I prefer the edge coming as close to the handle as it can, on MOST, not ALL of my blades. It depends on what it was intent is. On this one, I thing I, personally would like that more. However, it isn't that big of a deal either.

I'll stick to my guns, I really think this is a well done knife. I would like one please :D

I personally would like to grind the little nub down near the choil area. Thats just me though

First off, great looking knife.
That said, most of us seem to like the edge as close to the handle as possible.

I bet what's catching your eye is the little "guard" sticking out- usually it's either centered between the edge and the wood, or closer to the edge. On this knife, it's much closer to the wood.
I bet it's not a functional issue at all, but next go-round, try centering it and your eye will be a lot happier. :)

I agree with this. The knife would function great, as is.... but the visual ballance isn't there. Moving the tip of that finger guard forward and balancing the pins would make it "Look" better. Very well done, though.

Does it make a difference?... I think so...
