A thought just occured to me about the Paradigm's. There seems to have been very few that have actually hit the market place and we can't seem to get an answer why not.

I wonder if perhaps there has been a "problem" with the lock or actuating system? Is there maybe a recall being considered ala the Sawby lock?

That brings me to the point of this thread. If there was a recall and the system was going to be discontinued, would you sent yours back or keep it?

I'm thinking I'd keep mine as I'm sure many who sent their Sawby's back wish they had done.

I'd sure want to know if there was a problem, what it was and was it safey related. If so, being so early, I'd probably send it back. Look at your own situation with the Sawby, you considered sending it back but Joe confirms they couldnt fix it if they wanted to cause they dont have the parts. I have seen them available on other retailer e-sites so If I was concerned about defects and wanted a collector, I guess I would try and order a second and have one to sent back for repair. All hypothetical though:cool:

I guess I would have to contact someone from the government so that they could tell me how to keep myself safe from it. Maybe Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid...

If mine was working I'd keep it. If not, I'd send it back. I'd keep it unless or until it stopped working correctly.

Production delays can occur for reasons other than defects. I'd wait before parting with it.

According to "history" the Sawby lock system was deemed unsafe because of some test where the back of the blade was whacked real hard against something which I guess caused it to fail. I don't remember the exact story, but I think a search of the forum would come up with it. Buck recalled them and redesigned the lock system to the backlock. The failure would probably never have occured during normal and safe use, but to be safe, Buck dropped the Sawby lock system. I'm sure someone will come along and give a real accurate story of what happened.

The minor problem I have with mine is a slight bit of blade play, and not with the lock. The knife in my opinion has become a collectors item because of the small (in comparison) number that were produced and the fact that some were returned due to the recall.

All of my Pardigm's work great, so if they was a recall due to some perceived problem, I'd keep them.

If it worked,no way would I send it back! Years ago Glock recalled the trigger on my 19 for a new and (improved).I sent it in and when I got it back it sucked. It was about a 8 pound lawyer proof trigger!! I had to take it to a gunsmith to get the original trigger back. It's still my duty sidearm, and it works great.

Wow a lot of speculation on this knife. Most likely it's a delay caused by the marketing team and what they think will get better market share results.

However, one never knows. Remember the 110LL? That liner lock 110 had many nice factory features you don't find on any production run 110's that I'm aware of. Like a factory installed thumb stud and a DP blade with no nail nick. Now these knives were a nightmare for Buck and each one had to be mostly hand made. Only about 350 of these were made then they were discontinued, as each one cost the factory more to make than they sold for. Buy the way, that 110LL is one very cool 110 variation;), it's one you don't find for sale very often.

Is the Paradigm the 110LL of today? Not likely and time will tell. It would be nice for Jeff H or CJ to comment on this topic.
