The Free Talonite Sample offer was such a cool offer from Tom Walz. (1" by 2" sample free in the mail to all who want to experiment with it)
So, for those who asked for a sample, and for those of us who have a dream project just right for such a nice piece of raw materials, what ideas do you have to add or perfect here? I thunk up a few things to start off (and some of them are actually serious), assuming anyone cares to join in...
You could...
Simply sharpen an edge or 2 and carry as a rectangular wallet knife.
Bore a finger hole into the above as a sort of Hideaway miniature,
Or shape it further into a ringknife. (would have to have rather thin fingers.)
Split it for 2 blades and make 1 or 2 folding knives with a smallish blade or 2.
Would the scraps be useful as washers/spacers? How does lubricity compare to brass?
What blade shape and grind would be most suited to this size of Talonite blade?
One of David Winston's "Keyknives" in Talonite? Which blade style? (David, do you work in Talonite?)
Broadhead for very tough deer
Replacement blade for Superknife (I know, non-disposable blade for knife designed for replacement blade..)
Blade to be lashed or screwed onto a fixed blade knife handle, (just hard to get a full tang out of 2" of material...).
3 miniature full tang bowies, 4 if you can get the curf thin enough.
A dozen corrosion proof very slick needles, if you could cut and drill it fine enough...
Thinking farther out of the box, and possibly violating the spirit of the original offer, Very Very scuff resistant boot heels and toe tips?
You could inset a cup of Talonite into a knife handle as a lower friction fire drill upper end pivot point.
You could inset some into a table or other surface needing greater wear resistance.
So, assuming you are not laughing too hard at me, what are your ideas or plans or dreams, (and are any of the products going to be for sale
