What would you do?

I'm torn between buying two knives, a Kershaw Skyline and a Spyderco Native 5, or just buying one, more expensive knife like PM2, or a Manix 2XL. What would you all do, buy 2 good knives, or one really good knife??

One really good knife. By the way, I have a pm2 and a manix 2 (not Xl). Both are really good knives.

I would buy the one, over the two. But I'm not you, and feel you should do only what you want to do.

My first choice: manix 2 XL, then Para 2, then the other 2, but thats based more on model than price.

I would buy the Native 5 and a good bottle of Irish whisky, but that is just me. :)

PM2 is quite bigger than the Skyline, they are both quality knives, I would go with the Skyline because I like carrying light EDC knives since I don't have heavy cutting jobs to do everyday.

Get the one really good knife. You'll still use it as your collection grows and moves upscale, and ultimately get more enjoyment out of it. Even if you don't believe you're going to start getting into more expensive knives, chances are that you will if you stick around here. I see a lot of people in the trading forums who want to trade a bunch of cheap knives for one expensive knife, but barely anyone is willing to trade one expensive knife for a bunch of cheap knives.

Well, somebody should chime in with the standard Bladeforums answer:

Get them all.

But it's not just that we're here to enable and encourage your knife-buying habit. As mentioned, they are all good knives, and it has been my experience that sampling a wide variety of knife designs helps inform future purchases. If you're like most of us here, you'll never find one perfect knife, but I think that is a good thing. As your needs and tastes change, you can sell or trade knives that no longer fit you for some reason.

And then, you'll be able to buy more....
