What a great problem to have. No sooner had I focused on adding a Randall Made Knife to my stable when, bummer--long wait. Fortunately I was able to secure a not-to-distant April, 2003 delivery date.

But wait, suddenly an opportunity dropped in my lap to get the knife I needed and could use--a model #27 "Trailblazer". WOW, with "pick the knife based on the intended use" no longer haunting me, I realized I could stretch out, be less practical and more emotional, when I exercise my option to order for the 4/03 delivery.

Now, you people know RMKs much beter than I do. Just for grins, which RMK "dream knife" turns you on the most? Which blade design and what materials, when combined and held in YOUR hands, would just make you shake your head in total awe and render you at a loss for words with which to express your euphoria?

I would not use the words "awe" and "euphoria", but a model 25 with a forward curved, double guard would look neat. Also, the Randall Knife Society news letter, a while back, printed a picture of an older model 4-5, with leather handle. It had more attractive lines than the current model 4. I would be pleased to have either one.

My "millenium" Bear Bowie 12-8 with absolutely gorgeous fossilized mammoth ivory handle, .999% pure silver hilt, spacers and butt cap...engraved by Skaggs and inlaid with gold.....in it's elephant skin sheath....

The one I spent a ton on and spent years finding all the "stuff" and hardware I wanted.....

NOW, THAT'S THE ONE...makes the old heart pound.....

Oh, why do I call it the millenium bowie? Because I ordered it to arrive during the last week of production of l999....;)

Wild Bill & jimsbowies,
Thanks for your responses concerning "What would you do"? Your ideas are helping me get out of "the box" as I consider adding more RMKs to my collection. Amazingly I've run into several new RMKs through a local dealer who has graciously given me "first dibs". I picked up a new #16 Diver's Knife (standard model) and passed on a #20 Yukon Skinner (also standard). The #27 Trailblazer I mentioned in the post starting this thread continues to captivate me with both its beauty and utility. And I still have an order to place in June for delivery 4/03. But I gotta say the #16 Diver's Knife is (in my mind anyway) a terrific design and very attractive too. Frankly it has caused me to regret my recent purchase of a Chris Reeve Project I as the #16 Diver's Knife lends itself to more variety in use, is equally sturdy/dependable and is also far more comfortable to grip and handle. All the best to you guys and thanks again for your ideas.
