I think everybody on here had to ask themselves at least once "i've got money to spend, now what do i buy ?" I'm there right now so i thought what better way to decide than ask people who live and breath knives. What would you do if you wanted to buy a fixed blade for frequent use when fishing, hunting, camping etc. but you were achin' for a new EDC, I limit myself to one knife every two months so im leaning towards the fixed blade only because fishing season will be over in less than two months. What would you do in my shoes ?

Knucks

Stalk the seller forums and the Busse Compant Store for a model that fits my needs. Screw folders for now. I have plenty of those. That's what I would do.

Yep im in the same spot too. I just got back from the store. Was lookin to get a benchmade 551, but they didn't have it. I didn't really see anything else I wanted. So i still have money and dont know what to get with it. I also am looking to get a good fixed blade for camping. I'd say just wait untill you come across a knife that you really want. Keep looking, you'll know it when you see it.

If I were ever to find myself in a position where I actually had spare money, I'd never go out looking for something to blow it on. If I already had the things I'd been wanting for a long time, I'd put that money in the bank.

Hmmm depends on how much money i have to spend, id say under 300$ id get either a Tops Tracker, Gerber LMF, Sog Seal (or seal pup) Sog field knife...all good choices.
400$ or greater, id go with a CRK, Busse or Strider.

Get one of Bob Dozier's canoe knives, it's nice and small. Take it fishing and carry it in your pocket or as a neck knife everywhere else.

First I'd quit looking at mass production companies and start looking at custom makers. Custom makers have a stigma attached to them that they are too high and only for collectors baloney! Plenty of Custom to semi custom makers out there someone her mentioned Busse and they are great also look at American Kami, Mineral Mountain Hatchet Works, Mark Terrell, Strider, CNC, Snoddy, Blair, Jones brothers, ect, ect. There are just too many custom and semi customs out there to name and they make great products at great prices if your willing to hunt.

Or a RD6 or 7 from Justin at Ranger. Good knives at good prices.

Is Snody taking orders again? Last time I looked, cuz I wanted a Hybrid folder, he wasn't taking orders.

Since we are all on the same page here im gonna go and look around for a decent fixed blade, i'll get an other folder later. I want to look into the RD6 and RD7 at ranger , can anybody give me a link to a good distributer who ships to Canada? As for the mora, i know that the knife is all about function but i can't bring myself to buy one because they're just plain ugly.

3 words, Ranger, Ranger, and Ranger. Seriously, though, best knives out there, in my opinion. I can't use enough superlatives to describe them, and Justin's customer service. You can find the owner, Justin Gingrich's contact info on his home page, www.rangerknives.com. I own other fixed blades, but i'm not really sure why... (joking, but barely)

I like J85909266's Idea. Rangers are good knives but I own busse and they are tuff. It all depends on how much money you have. If you have enough for a custom look over in the MAKERS section they aer always pumping out nice fixed blades over there at very reasonable prices sometimes. Just cruze around and eventually something will grab you. I am in the same boat right now and I am going to order a Greco and a Razel here in two weeks cuz I am on a fixed blade rush right now too.
