Here’s my situation. I don’t own a CRK folder. In fact, I don’t own a Ti Framelock. I can get a good deal on a CRK and I’ve decided to pull the trigger. I’m just not sure which one to get. I love large folders and I own several of them but I don’t carry any of them for the simple reason that they’re illegal in my locale. I’ve handled all of the CRK folders and read all the reviews. I know I’d be happy with any of them. The ones that make the most sense from a USE standpoint would be the Mnandi and the Small Sebbie. The ones that attract me the most are the Large Sebbie and the Umnum.

I could always get a Large Sebbie or Umnum and sell it or trade it later if I decided to get a Mnandi or Small Sebbie instead. But I’d prefer to make the right decision at the outset and save the hassle.

Last but not least, I got a great deal on a William Henry EDC E6-4 on a trip I took to Seattle a few weeks ago. So my small, high-end EDC needs are covered.

Based on my situation, what would you recommend?

Well a knife doesn't do you a whole lot of good if you can't carry it. i would suggest a small Sebenza. I do love my Mnandi's but for me and what I like to do with my knives the small Sebbie gets a lot more pocket time.
What do you primarily use a folder for?

Small plain 21 Sebenza. The large is not legal in your area and the william henry satisfies your small knife needs, the the small seb wins by process of elimination.:cool::)

Typical office use. And not scaring the sheeple is important, of course.

Damn, Scott. You look so much like me when I was a young man it's ridiculous!

I'm going to have to give the small Sebbie a little more time in my hand. I'll drop by my local dealer and massage one a little. ;)

I'd have to pay full pop for the Insingo. So I'll pass on that. The other thing you need to know about me is that I'm more of a collector than a user. I've got LOTS of fixed-blade knives, none of which I can carry without causing a disturbance or going to jail. So buying a large Sebbie or Umnum and not using it wouldn't necessarily bother me.

OK. I'll pay more attention to the small Sebbie. I've been waiting awhile to make a decision. A little longer won't make that much difference.

.

I'll submit my own recommendation for a Small Sebenza, especially if anything larger cannot be carried. As to paying full price for an Insingo version, it is useful to adopt the "Buy Once, Cry Once" philosophy, because for the long term, you will actually save money.

Also, the Small Insingo is priced the same as the Small Sebenza 21, so I don't see the downside of paying full price.

End the suffering; end it now. . . . Oh, wait, there's more to your story. . . .

Ok -- I say get a Small Sebbie because you are going to want to carry it. In fact, you are not going to want to carry anything else! And I'd suggest getting a wood inlaid model. I carry my cocobolo Small Seb for the office, and it feels dressier than my plain jane Seb:

If I read between the lines . . . I would surmise that you should buy a large, and either a graphic or wood inlay one at that. That's what you'll be most happy with in your collection. When you figure out that you actually want to EDC it, you'll be happy to buy a small Sebenza, and STILL be excited to have that large in your collection, sittin' along side all those other knives that can't go out in public.

Personally I'd buy the knife that I wanted most, and carry it as well. As long as you're not being overt about it you shouldn't get hassled............

Right now the large Sebbie is the direction I'm leaning in. Even if I can't take it outside for fear of having it confiscated, I could always cycle the action as a substitute for worry beads. ;) And I may still have a shot at a Sebbie that doesn't contain the Idaho Made inscription. If I can pick that one up, I'd be a pretty happy camper. :) But I'll definitely spend more time checking out a small Sebbie before I make a final decision.

Update. I decided to go for the plain Large Sebenza 21 without the "Idaho Made" etch. I picked it up today.

To be honest, I never thought I'd own a Sebenza (or a William Henry for that matter). But I was able to get really good deals on both of them. And now that I've had a chance to handle them, I'm starting to understand what the fuss is all about.

Thanks for your input, guys. I'll stick around so I can keep picking tips and pointers from y'all. And I'm already thinking about ways to customize my Sebbie. Is there no end to the madness? ;) :D

The only end is when your bank is at zero the wife left 6 months ago and your selling your house to fund knives.......
