What would you do...

I'd find a controller for that sucker on ebay and build another grinder, or use it for a disc grinder. Barring that, I'd build a belt drive buffer.

disc grinder all the way! Or a drum sander... The one Phillip Patton is building right now looks interesting!

I would probably trade it off to someone like Salem who has far too many tools (but never seems to have enough), and exchange it for something I need that he has multiples of.

But why would you ship it to yourself? ;)

Sounds like I'm going to start saving for a GIB or NWG...

Lets see. I have:
2x42 Craftsman belt grinder
Band saw
Drill press
Buffer
Lots of files and sandpaper :)

I totally agree with Rich and Patrice..... except that you should ship me the motor so I can ponder what I would do with said motor. :D

Either make a 2x72 grinder or a disk sander is what I would do with that motor. Keep the other grinder/sander for handle material flattening and rough shaping.

That's definitely where my head is at. Anyone have a good source for a controller for this beast?

2 hp is overkill for the paper wheels. a 2x72 belt sander is a much better choice for that motor.
