Now that I'm picking up speed and completing some long-overdue orders...(thumb still aches, but no longer prevents me from working)

...I'm realizing that I haven't posted a tutorial or video here for a long, long time. (neither has Dave...! - unless I missed it :foot: ) And, I'm also realizing that I do a lot of customizing that y'all might be interested in trying out.

So, is there anything you guys would like to see? tools? processes?

Any burning questions?

As long as it's not too complicated/lengthy/etc...:D...I'll give it a shot.

p.s. just thinking there might be something I take for granted and do "second nature" that might be of use to everybody here.

Id be interested to see how you cut fullers, perform a heat treatment, and make fittings, particularly your thick bolsters.

Dan :)

Hmm. Well, for starters, I'd like to see one of your WSK's in my mailbox, with a note saying "Here's a small gift for my good buddy Norm!" :D ;)

Other than that, I would like to see some more rehandling how-to's, since you have done a bunch of those. I have a couple of knives that are fine bladewise, but would like to either add slabs to the chiruwa tang or make a new handle to fit on he hidden tang. Not sure how you deal with the bolster fit (or make a new one as Dan suggested), handle pins, etc., etc. I know I could wing it, but any tips 'n techniques would be welcome.

Thanks, and I'll be checking my mailbox! :D

Your good buddy.

Norm

Tutorial??

hmm....I would like to see a tutorial on how to make a Sub-Hilt fighter...It might be a bit more complicated than ya want to tackle right now, but I would enjoy it...One on a AK bowie or Chiruwa AK would be sweet

Norm,
Dan's WSK is a very sweet knife...Alot more "lively" in the hand that I would have expected

I'd like to see a plan for an assembly clamping jig. I can't seem to figure out a good way to keep the blade straight except by eye. So thats an area I'm having trouble.

Mikarta Khukuri rehandle with OD Green Foliage Green and Grey Random pattern Mikarta.

Finger grooves. Small guard to ensure that you dont loose fingers when you stab something.

Hmmm, I know which tutorial I'd like to see. Some of these fellers don't know about the world famous "Dan, Dan, the Pizza Man". :D ;)

Sarge

ok....the clay-tempering will be an easy one...will be doing that here soon.

I already have pics for a chiruwa rehandle how-to....just need to do the writing...

Pizza will have to wait until Friday night.

 :D :p

Im with DrDanon this one, a video of grinding the fullers would be well worth watching I think. ;)

Spiral

edited to get the name right!

It's been a while. As I recall, you enjoyed making kitchen cutlery? How about a Ulu knife
...for all us deep dish pizza people in need of a quality slicer :D

I second what Ivsa said!!! :D

AND what BTC said too. I LOVE Ulu knives and was seriously thinking of buying one from you closer to Christmas (just not sure what year yet) :).

I'm not sure that I could make one on my own at the moment... but knowledge is always a good thing to have.
