Well, the new year is upon us which means new knives to look forward to. :D What would you like to see in 2003? Any improvements on existing knives? New collaborations? New models?

A few things that I'd like to see in the new year:

Benchmade: Satin finished AFCK Axis folders. No more gent folders.

Emerson Knives: Satin finished blades (Not hard chrome) as an option on all existing production models. Production version of the CQC-10.

Camillus: A four inch blade EDC folder.

SOG: Some custom collaborations.

CRKT: Kydex sheaths for their fixed blade models (No more of those awful Zytel sheaths).

Cold Steel: No more Zytel handled folders, upgrade them to G-10. A Lifetime Warranty.

And my personal wish: AN END TO COMBO EDGES!

I'd like to see...
Paramilitary, Chinook II, Forum PE Spyderhawk, Forum Native
:p

Benchmade mini-griptilian with a variety of steel and handle material choices. Ditch the "you atake apart ayou aknife, and ayou awarranty is adead" policy I know how to take a few screws apart and reassemble a simple GD knife!!!

Crkt, either polish those blades or paint 'em all, and use metal washers. Also license the axis lock and get busy working it into all of their designs.

Spyderco, get rid of the vertical play in their blades and use more adjustable pivot pins instead of fixed rivots. Also license the axis lock and put into all their designs.

All other makers, license the axis lock and work it into all your knife designs!!

Yes I like the axis lock THAT much.
:D

A smaller Becker in the same great steel... sort of a North American puukko. (With a Concealex sheath from Normark:D )

Dito.

In general, I'd like to see more knives with carbon fiber handles and more custom collaborations (especially a Blackwood Skirmish).

Plus:
- coated Spydercos
- a changed BM logo (I just don't find that butterfly very cool)
- no more bead-blasting on CRKT models and a general upgrade to AUS-8
- an Emerson production dagger

Oh, and I'd like to see what that Busse folder looks like. :D

Sticky -- Unfortunately Benchmade will not license anyone else to use the Axis Lock ( I already tried for my knives ). The only people they license to use it are the inventors of the lock. -- Charles

I couldn't agree more. I hope that Spydie, BM , SOG etc... will make this the year that they put the SE in front of the PE. IMHO it just seems more natural to have it this way. When you whittle you do it up close to the scales and when you need to cut something in a more aggressive manner you position the item to be cut further out from the hand so as to have greater leverage. It seems that this issue has been mentioned previously on BF so maybe Sal, Ron or one of the other manufacturers will take note.

I would like to see:

Camillus do an OVB folder, a high end production slipjoint collaboration with someone like Bailey Bradshaw or P.J. Tomes.

Marbles go back to using 52100.

Buck's Custom Shop offer the 110 in 52100.

More production knife companies use 52100.

Spyderco do a limited run of Calypso Jr.'s with VG-10 blades and Micarta scales.

Benchmade offer the 940 in something besides 154 CM...perhaps M2 or D2.

I'll also jump on Alberta Ed's bandwagon for a pukko style knife from Becker. But I don't want any black stuff on mine!

I'm with ya on the end to combo edges, and toward that end I wouldn't mind production versions of all of SOG's stuff in Plainedge, but Ron informs me this is an unlikelyhood... :(

Far as BM's go... I'd like to see them switch everything they sell in BT2 over to BC1 with no price change (fantasy land I know) :)

CRKT - I'm all for a Zytel to Kydex transition, also wouldn't mind an AUS6 to AUS8 shift (satin finish blades would be nice too)

Speaking of satin finish blades - Kershaw Leeks with SATIN blades (I hate bead blasted).

Outta Emerson I'd like to see some real liners and an end to those weird and hard to sharpen double-ground, single-bevel edges.

Oh, and my dad says he wants a Spyderco Chinook with a Speed-Safe on it :D

A production version of the Fisk OVB Bowie in 154CM and Micarta
The Busse folder and a SRKW version

I'd like to see Snody, Blackwood, Mayo, etc. start taking orders again (once I save up enough money that is...).

SpyderFly (Spyderco Balisong).

Mayo Balisong.

Busse folder.

A lot of other stuff that I can't think of right now.
