What would you recommend for reverse carry?

Hello, I'm new to the forums here, and I thought one of you might be able to help me out.

I'm looking for a fast opening, fairly inexpensive, and concealable knife. I'd like to be able to open it fast into a reverse-blade-out grip. My uncle Zack always has a Benchmade CQC7 in his pocket and a really heavy full tang knife he carries in the small of his back (Nimrarus ?). They are both very nice knives, and are probably the best pieces of steal I've ever seen but are way out of my price range :( . I'm also rather partial to just a plain edge. IMHO serrated knives are better used on bagels.

Thanks In Advance :)

Spyderco Endura - $50.00

Reverse the clip to the left side, but put the knife in your right pocket. This allows you to draw directly into reverse grip. It works well if you practice the reverse grip inertia draw.

some of the M.O.D. folders come with kydex sheaths such as the jim keating "hornet" which is designed for his draw point reverse grip style

pest-ilence, welcome to Bladeforums! :)

Why would you use serrated knives on bagels? I use a sharp plain edge and push cut through them!

I guess you'll want to wait until your budget opens up for one, but a waved Emerson opens automatically into reverse grip in the opposite pocket. If I put my right-handed Commander in the front of my left pocket, and pull up and forward, it comes open edge-forward in reverse grip. It makes for a nasty jab. :)

opens up into a nice reverse grip with your index finger in the grip hole. and with the wave feature on the blade it opens as fast as you can pull your finger from your pocket. lighning quick and a nasty first stroke with the hooked blade.... bagles beware..

Thanks, and btw my price range is < $100.00

And by the way the reason I like the reverse grip is that you could hide the blade behind your arm until the last moment if you had to. That, and I think that it is more of a defensive posture, where as the saber sets you up for more of an offensive stabbing fighting style.

For me at least, a knife is just a last ditch resort so I can get to a gun, but I've watched enough videos and had enough 'training' that I think I could at least scare someone, untrained, into finding easier prey.

check out the DDP fixed blade

If you have a dremel or grinder, you can modify a Spyderco to open like a waved Emerson. You may be able to get the same sort of opening from a zytel handles Cold Steel TiLite or a CRKT M16 Special Forces. Those have upper guards which may be able to catch on a pocket like the Emerson Wave.

Wow you must be psychic or something I was just looking at an article describing how to modify a Spyderco Delica to do exactly that.

I think I may have just heard a reason to get a Spyderco. I recently handled the Chinook and it was solid and heafty. I've never been partial to the hole opening system, but a Chinook with a wave? I like this idea a lot. ;)

Where did you find the article about doing the modifications?

The Chinnok II is a 4 way clip, but I think the spring keeping the knife closed might be a litle strong for a "Wave".

URL (if you have it) for that article would be great, this sounds really interesting.

Sorry to drag up an older thread, but I am finally getting around to playing with my dremel and buying a Delica and I wanted the forums opinion:
FRN or stainless handle?
Why?
Oh, thanks for the links btw, I appreciate it

Spyderco Paramilitary. The compression lock allows fairly easy a reverse blade out opening. Not to mention the other attributes: S30V blade, G-10 handles with dual steel liners, MBC rated lock (the strongest lock ever).

Here's a little trick I picked up from Jerry VanCook's article about the knife a ways back in Tactical Knives... Clip the knife into your left rear pocket, when you withdraw it with your left hand you flick it downward and this wonderfully huge knife opens into a reverse grip. You can then augment your right hand with weapon of choice.
